Humidity Helper

I found this on one of the pet websites I wa looking at. Humidimat
I wonder if this thing actually works. I may try it when I get my crested gecko.

ur just supposed to throw it into ur tank and let it lie there?

I would think that it would be an awesome bacteria medium... I could use it in some of my petri dishes to grow some icky stuff.

Just kidding. But seriously, how can that not be gross? It would grow bacteria like nobody's business. It's like putting a kitchen sponge in the enclosure. Eew, ick, blargh...

I would have to give it a "no-go" as it is just extremely capable of producing massive amounts of bacteria and exposing them to your snake.

I saw those things in a herp magazine and thought the exact same thing.

What if you soaked it in chlorhexadine? Is that a stupid idea? lol

I just found out that the humidity in my apt. gets low when the heater is on....it got down to like 50 deg. here the other day, so I turned it on for the first time....The humidity in 'the closet' was getting to around 40 and I don't do well without humidity....

i went it picked up two humidity units for about $25 each....one for my bedroom, one for the office/herp room. They seem to be doing really well.

I wonder though.. would a room humidifier raise the humidity inside the cages too? I guess it would..

fogger and a timer???

I "McGuyver'd" one of these and havn't had a humidity problem since. I think the total cost was under 25 bucks!

Yeah it was definitely a great small-scale solution.

BTW how was Halloween in Radford this year? When I was living in Blacksburg we used to drive over for those parties :P

Haha, from what I can remember :party::devilish: last weekend was great! Unfortionatly the new RU President is cutting down on student drinking and stuff but its hard to stop decades of tradition!
