Meet Ellaria-Pure Ternate Island Reticulated Python
After months of waiting, she's here! Ellaria is a pure Ternate island retic. First snake I ever had shipped to me. She arrived in a very poopy stinky mess, and in shed, but healthy enough to take a few shots at me.

Ternate is a small island in the Maluku Islands, off the coast of Halmahera. It is under 50 square miles, with a bunch of it being a volcano, and these guys stay pretty small. Since they have not been extensively worked with yet, they are not classified as dwarves or SD. However, everyone who works with them believes that they will eventually and should be reclassified as their own subspecies, due to such tremendous differences seen with this locality.

Ellaria is an F1 baby from WC parents, hatched 3/15/19. Weight after 1st shed was 105 grams. I am told that Dad was 7 feet, and Mom was under 11. I was totally unprepared for how tiny she is! I know that will change quickly lol.

This locality show tremendous variation from animal to animal, amazing colors and patterns, and every one I've seen is just absolutely stunning. They definitely seem to get better with age. Apparently there are only 4 other people in the country who currently have pure Ternate retics in their collections, which to me is really cool.

Without further ado, here are some pics! First 2 are from the breeder right after she hatched, others were just snapped between unboxing and putting her in the tub. Can't wait til she sheds! Stay tuned for updates...

NICE ! That is fan-freaking-tastic! Congrats on such a rare and interesting creature.

There are stunning morphs out there, but to my eyes nothing can beat nature's paint job.

If it weren't for the price tag on those Ternates and my terrible luck with retics I'd snatch one of those up in a heartbeat. Congrats! Rodney breeds some VERY nice locale retics for sure

Yeah, the morphs are super cool but there's something amazing about having a very specific, insular, locale animal in your care that looks exactly the way it would in the wild. Great pick up!

    Beautiful animal!

    Stunning actually.

I hope you set that one up with some arboreal caging options.

I'm not sure that many folks realize just how arboreal retics can be when they have the option.

    Congrats!!

    Sounds great buddy!

What's the adult size expectation, I'm guessing somewhere in between mom and dad?

My ornery fella is 8-9 feet, at least that's my best guess. I'm hoping he stays under 10'.

He loves his perches and is in a 6' x 30" (deep) x 2' cage.

So far that's all he needs and he's going to hit the 3 year mark June 1st.

I'm certainly excited for you. The fact you have a locality animal is even more impressive!

Yeah most likely 9-10 feet. That's exactly the adult enclosure size I would probably get for her unless she turns into a giant monster (highly unlikely but you never know). With arboreal fixtures should lend to a great amount of space. For now she's in the tub, once she's out of quarantine I'm outfitting a 3'x28"x21" Vision tank I have with perches and a sky hide. Probably in a year or so I'll look at ordering the 6 footer from AP. Might end up wanting one for my Suriname anyways so can do those together

Ellaria shed out beautifully yesterday and her colors are popping! I tried to offer a rat last night since breeder said she's due to eat but she was terrified and wouldn't go for it, she just wanted to be left alone. Gonna leave her be for a bit and try again over next weekend. Managed to snap a quick post shed pic. Also, black dots in there are from one of those twisty branches. No mites seen (fingers crossed)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2a22eff6c3.jpg

Wonderful animal! I can't wait to see her progression. The more I see of these pure locality animals (mainlands and dwarf) the more I love them. Its nice to see people trying to preserve them rather than just using them to shrink popular morphs.

Handled her for the first time today! She was super cool, no snapping at me, and was really curious. I kept it short, just around 5-10 minutes, so she can start getting used to me. Some updated pics, had a special visitor over last night. This baby literally just eats and poops. Guaranteed poop immediately after a cleanup, like clockwork. Oh well, I love her. She has a crazy energy, when she's in a hide and its feeding time she zips out like lightning and just goes straight at the rat.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4748cc7863.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c4c4f5c2c5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d84c1f255e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2b5c8bbd73.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d63a061e7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9d465df25c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...756c6aad11.jpg
