    Made a snake tree!
I used to keep parrots and I enjoyed having them hang out with me on parrot stands and trees. Since Noodle loves to climb I've been trying to come up with something for her but the parrot trees are very easy to get off of. I just ordered a cheap coat rack with smooth wood and then made it fun for her. She LOVES it!

I put a basket on it with hidey leaves, an old stocking hat since she loves hiding in clothes, and the Christmas stocking that both snakes often stay in when on my lap watching TV. Also attached a branch to make it more tree like than the coat rack pegs.
Of course they should always be supervised but it's nice to have some hands-free snake time in the livingroom too.

The BP didn't dig it as much. He found the basket and just hung out there. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4f2af46b3e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8bba71e496.jpg

This is terrific! What an awesome idea! I also used to keep parrots and boy those large tree stands I bought for my macaw were expensive!! This looks like a very fun, and cost effective, method of ensuring a climbing workout for our slithery friends. Thanks for the great idea!

I bought the coat rack for $20. I wish I had thought of this when I had the parrots and their expensive manzanita stands!

Wow! You and me both. That’s an amazing price! I think several years ago I paid $200-250 for a huge manzanita tree with a large wooden platform at the bottom for catching food/poop, etc. It was beautiful and I got it for cost. Almost wish I had hung onto it, but I will be making my own. Thanks for the inspiration! [emoji16]

This is awesome! I've been wondering how I might be able to make a jungle gym for some of our snakes when they are bigger. Thanks for sharing!

I'm thinking if you are able to, hanging braches from the ceiling might be good too. They won't be able to get off very easily

Great invention ! I will put that on my list to do one day.
It's a great way to get them out of their enclosure to get some extra exercise !

Love the "trees" you made for your (obviously happy!) snakes. :D

I've been doing something similar for a while, with a heavy metal stand: it's very stable & I removed the vertical pole & replaced it with a natural tree branch
that has a number of side branches (trimmed to a reasonable length for in my living room). The exercise is good for our snakes, & we don't have to be so 'hands-
on', just vigilant (& not forgetful).

Okay so the BP stays on the tree and seems to really enjoy it. He was very active all through the evening TV watching. Noodle the Ratsnake, however, pretty much hid by pressing herself up against the branches, then figured out how to slide down it even though it's very smooth. She wrapped around the pole multiple times like a bracelet, and slowly slid down in a very controlled fashion. I actually thought that was very smart! So I guess the BP has a new toy and Noodle will just use me as her tree.

Yes, my rat snakes don't stay put for long either. They enjoy the outings, but they'd make good firefighters (sliding down the pole)...;)

Final version! The BP was kinda freaking out with no cover ...this is now perfect with the leaves. He's relaxed and loves it. Did anyone else make one to share since I started this thread?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f8a3b6a7c1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e9df1271b3.jpg

It looks awesome with the leaves, just like a proper tree!! I won’t be able to make one for months. I’m in the process of moving, so eventually I’ll make one when I get settled. I’ll be sure to share when I do [emoji16]

Great job on the snake tree! With the leaves added for cover, it's a little less available for part-time duty for coats & hats, but oh well...snakes first! :D

By the way, I almost bought a huge fake tree that was in a thrift store....don't forget to check out your local thrifts, or even leave word that you're looking for one.
The one I saw just needed an outdoor hosing off & a hot day for drying...it was dusty & you can imagine someone trying to dust it, lol...I'm sure that's why it was
    donated.

Yes those fake plants are very hard to clean! I wanted to try the coat rack idea because the poll is very smooth and hard to escape off of, or at least I thought so until Noodle proved me wrong
