    Rabbits
Does anyone feed their BP's baby rabbits? I breed meat rabbits as a food source for myself, and was just curious if people ever fed baby rabbits, like rabbit pinkies or fuzzies, if you will.

I don't believe so. There's no reason that they couldn't eat them, but ball pythons tend to get stuck on one type of feeder. Not everyone has easy access to rabbit kits, which would make it tough for you to sell them in the future should it be necessary.

If you find yourself with excess meat rabbits then get yourself some boas or larger pythons.

I do, I feed rabbit kits to those that will take it. I'd say about 35% of by BPs will take them.

edit to add - I do find those same ones are just as quick to take a rat when I don't have rabbit kits

Interesting. It would just be a supplemental thing if I did try.

Lol. I dont think my husband would let me get a snake big enough to need to eat rabbits.

I wish I could find some reasonably priced rabbits as feeders. I'd love to try them with some of my snakes.

Not necessarily large enough to “need” to eat rabbits. Just large enough to handle them if you had rabbits to spare

That is along the lines I was thinking. It would be nice to have some to do with the stillborn kits.

We do Flemish giants, so you are looking at 15 lb rabbits. [emoji15]

You don't have to grow them all the way out to 15 pounds. Something like a dwarf boa or a BRB will take a fuzzy.

You could also sell the excess to people local who keep larger snakes. I have local farmers who are happy to sell me the stillborn lambs and goats for mine.

You will deal with a few issue when feeding rabbits

1 If the animal get stuck on rabbit it could be and issue for you or if you re home your snake and this prey type is no longer available.

2 Size wise feeding a baby rabbit will be the equivalent of a small rat nutritionally their will be a big difference fatty animal with the bone structure of a baby versus leaner meat with a better bone structure and therefore more calcium (basically it would compare to feeding rat pups to Hognose instead of adult mice which is never recommended)
