Meet Rhubarb the Suriname BC
Here she is folks, what will likely be my last snake - unless my husband falls in love with one or we magically get a bigger house or I can convince him that we can fit my last "wish list" snake somewhere ;):P. I've wanted a BC ever since I started learning about boas, specifically either a Suriname or a Guyana. As soon as I saw a photo of this snake I knew she was the one. These photos don't do her any justice. Hopefully it warms up soon so I can get some proper photos in sunlight. As it is I took a few quick ones after unboxing while checking her over. Some on my cell and a few on the good camera. She's also wet in a couple because it was after I had sprayed her down with a mite treatment, just in case. Rhubarb reminds me a lot of my BCL in terms of how she handles so far - very active and inquisitive but not at all hissy and strike-happy like the BCO. In hindsight I should have also gotten a weight, but she's pretty dang small. Maybe 75 grams? I will feel better when she takes a meal.

Thanks, Ziggy! We are basically done adding snakes, so I figured I'd go out with a bang with Rhubarb, ha. We are running out of space, and we have a number that, while high, still feels comfortable in terms of cage maintenance, feeding, handling, etc. I'd love to get my hands on an Inca morph Nicaraguan, buuut I don't know where I'd put it until we have a total of 4 shelving units and most everyone in PVC.

She's settling in pretty well, I think, considering she just had her first meal with us. :) Transitioned to F/T no problem. Must say, I love the boa feeding response.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...522c3ba3d5.jpg

My boas have been the easiest to switch to f/t, including my Colombian rainbow. Artemis and Orion are my only remaining holdouts for live.

My boas have also been super easy to switch to both F/T and rats when the time comes. So have my ball pythons, lol. The only snakes I've had any trouble with at all are 2 of my 3 carpets - although now 1 of the troublesome ones is eating reliably. Still waiting for Pixie, our newest carpet, to take her first meal. I'll give her a few more weeks as long as she still looks good but may eventually have to try a live mouse. :/

I was fortunate Kett, my carpet, was already on f/t. He doesn’t even constrict, just grab and swallow.

Very nice.
You can't go wrong with boas, they are just that cool!

Re: Meet Rhubarb the Suriname BC
Given her feeding response last week, I felt comfortable taking Rhubarb out tonight for some very brief handling while checking her over for mites. So far so good! ::sigh of relief:: I think she's going to be pretty dang impressive once she gets some size on her.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d1f08f1889.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a5566fe33e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f4e58caaff.jpg
