Animal Plastics (AP) bought a Bigger Facility. [emoji1373][emoji1373][emoji1373]
This is great news. I’ll be ordering in about 4-5 months so Im hoping this will lighten the waiting times quiet a bit. A few years ago I was waiting around 13 weeks. Well worth it though.

“As a commitment to the AP brand, our customers, and the industry, Animal Plastics is excited to say that we have purchased a new building and another CNC machine. This building is 3 times the size of our current facility. This move, in time, should over double our production capacity.

Product demand has exceeded production capacity for a long time. It’s a large commitment but we are focused 100% on getting our lead times down. The move won’t happen for 45-60 days while we prep the new facility. To our dedicated customers, thank you for your patience and continued support!”

I just ordered an A10 arboreal cage for an Emerald Tree Boa I plan on purchasing in the future. In the email I recieved after ordering this is what was said...

PLEASE ALLOW APPROXIMATELY 14-18 WEEKS FOR MANUFACTURE.

I appreciate that he is up front on the manufacturing time/delay. I don't like the fact that he bills your credit card at time of order!

I placed an order just last week for a couple of racks and got the same thing. They're moved into the new building but don't have the 2nd CNC fully going yet. Once it's up it will double their capacity for cutting and should help them chip away at lead times. I'm not expecting those racks until March (barf).

I've got to place another order this month for another adult BP rack as well, and am hoping to see it in the same time frame.

I don't blame you, but if you were in his shoes, would you want to be making something for someone who might cancel out anytime? He would end up with a warehouse of miscellaneous enclosures for which he probably doesn't have the space.

I do think it would be fair to wait & only bill your credit card when he actually STARTS on your order. :confusd: (maybe he cuts a bunch at once, & only then assembles them?)

Actually it's a violation of the merchant agreement to run a card if the vendor can't ship the product or start providing a service purchased within 30 days. This is why we don't accept cards for Title II firearms - ATF's approval process to a non-licensee ranges from 4-12 months from the date they receive the paperwork.

customer service, transparency, and quality: AP is a shining example.

YES they take a very long time, but honestly i just dont see how that's still an issue to the informed customer considering this has been their MO for years and years.

i absolutely love AP and im so happy to hear they're expanding their business.

I agree once the cutting/cnc machining starts charge me. And if it was 30 days no big deal. We are talking 4 months, that is wrong IMHO!

I'm three months into the "quick ship" cages. I picked the wrong color again:(
    Still worth the wait.

It took 17 weeks to get my last order shipped, and that was me calling and checking weekly after the 14th week point. Lead times are getting excessive enough that if they don't get them down soon, I might look for another option. This coming from someone that has wanted to do everything AP for more than 20 years.

    Best,

Does anybody have any idea how many enclosures AP actually produces, let's say weekly or monthly? I'm sure there's some variance due to custom orders and what not, but I'm just curious if anybody has a ballpark number.

I'm torn between building my own or buying APs when it comes time for my Bredli and Carpet to get their "forever" enclosures. Their reputation speaks volumes, but those lead times are LLLOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG and I'm very much an instant gratification kinda guy.

Order it now and it ~might be ready when the animal actually needs it [emoji23]

My T25 took 25weeks to arrive and I was quoted 10-12 weeks over the phone by Ali when I ordered. Great product but absolutely absurd lead times

It seems like their wait times have actually gotten worse. Their email response times are worse as well.

Yep, they have. I had tried emailing them when I was looking into a divided 8’ cage and never got a response. That was summer 2018.
Super unfortunate because they make great enclosures. If you can anticipate your caging need 6-12months in advance you’re fine. But that’s not a thing that people do really

Thanks guys. That's unfortunate to hear. Pretty much everything I knew of AP was positive, with customer service always being highly praised.

Building my own probably won't save me much money, but I know I can build a quality enclosure, and can probably bang two 6 footers out in a weekend.

I’m in no way trying to knock them. The three enclosures I have by them are great. But when I’m planning new cages for growing animals it’s less than realistic to plan close to a year out depending on the critter in need of enclosure upgrades. I’m currently set on cages for the snakes I have at the moment but should that change, I’ll still consider AP as an option if I can plan that far in advance

Everything I own from them is amazing. Compared to what I've seen at shows it's really hard to beat AP's stuff. The lead time is killing me though.

A friend has me ordering a rack for her shortly. We'll see what the lead time we get on this one and then I'll be making a decision on the direction I go. If I stick with AP, I'll need to be buying another adult rack in the next 90 days to have it by Christmas. :/

I ordered a T8 quick ship in december. never got any notifications for it, so I ended up calling the customer service number. My order had gotten mixed up with the older ones on accident, the customer service lady was incredibly polite and apologetic and got it shipped out the next day. If you have an order that has been sitting too long I def recommend giving a call :) As long as their wait times are they have excellent customer service otherwise
