Re: Spring Tinley
Look for a 6'1 guy wearing a navy blue Brewers hoodie :D I'll be on the eye out for a fanny pack lol.

I will be there as well. I am bringing my Nephew with me and we're doing the VIP thing this time around (because why not do it once) and he loves the industry.
I'm 5'10" and around 250lbs - shaved bald with a long red goatee. My nephew is 10 and is Half-Korean. We'll be hard to miss.
This will be my Last Chicago show most like as I moved to Texas (so I'll have that one closer), but would love to say Hi!
We're picking up (2) snakes at the show that he doesn't know about. I bought a pair of Clown het Orange Ghost Ball Pythons to add to my collection. :D

March 2019 tinley narbc - final roll call
One out of the two best times of the year is almost here! I know there are a few Tinley threads going around. Figured it might be nice to try to get a final idea of who's going and who may want to try to meet up.
I will be there for sure with my husband on Saturday from 7:30A until sometime in the afternoon. I will be wearing a super bright neon green T-shirt and have red hair. :)
I may also go when it's died down a bit towards the end of the day on Sunday, maybe with my kids, depending on how much trouble I get into on Saturday, lol.

Ha, I'm a goober. I thought I was starting another thread, but it looks like replying to this one works just as well!

I will be there at doors open with the Nephew on Saturday. I'll be down Friday helping a local Vendor who I've bought a snake from in the past with manual labor during setup.
I'll be the shaved head guy with a 10" goatee and a 10 year old kid in tow.

Yay! I need reptile friends, lol. I posted a Happy Pie(d) Day pun/photo on FB and nobody got it. :( I'm excited because we have a babysitter this time so I actually get to take my time and browse everything without feeling rushed.

I was down and helped a couple of the guys I've bought snakes from with their setup at the show. Was fun. I did all my buying tonight too. Had a blast. Fell in love with a non BP species. Am serious about the want of one now. ./facepalm...

Re: Spring Tinley
We were there this morning for a few hours but I am probably going to go back tomorrow on my own. Our sitter canceled, so it was a bit stressful. I also managed to forget the list I wrote of supplies we needed. :/
But all was not lost! We picked up a Herpstat 6, some hides, and longer feeding tongs. And a magical copy of The Complete Boa Constrictor that was definitely not $400! My kids also got to pet the most awesome Tegu.
Unfortunately the only real snake interaction I had today ended up being a disappointing one. (I make it a point to only ask to handle a snake if I'm serious about buying.) I was eyeballing and handled two very pretty Guyana BCCs from the same vendor and was just about to say yes to purchasing one when what did I see? A mite on my hand! That was enough to say thanks but no thanks. I quietly pointed the critter out to the seller and was on my way with an extra dose of hand sanitizer. Showered and changed clothes upon arriving home.
Hopefully tomorrow will bring more leisurely browsing.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5b03674278.jpg

Re: Spring Tinley
I also picked up a magical copy of that book and I kindly asked Mr Vin Russo to sign it for me because, why not.

That's awesome! There were only I think 3 copies left at the big front table with all the books when I grabbed mine.
I didn't have the nerve to ask him to sign mine (I just creeped by his table a couple of times lol) but maybe tomorrow when I go back!

What did you get and what species did you fall in love with?

I picked up an unrelated Clown het Orange Ghost pair that I have been eyeballing for a while. I also found a nicely price Fire het Clown female that I picked up to facilitate having Fire available to me when things get rolling.
I spoke with a few breeders that work within the genetics I have been collecting and also found a two more perfect snakes that will be shipped to me in the near future. I found a Black Pastel Enchi Hypo female and a Mojave Blade DH Clown Hypo female from a breeder I've done business with before and one of the larger breeders, so I am very happy. I've secured all the genes I want to have growing in my collection with a correct M/F ratio and from solid breeders.
In regards to what I fell in love with, well...
I'm going to end up getting a Leachie. I have been guiltily wanting a Crested Gecko for so long, but they're just a touch on the small side for me overall. I got to interact with a good half a dozen adults and they're quite possible the coolest legged animal I've ever had my hands on. Combine that with being told that they do really well in planted Vivarium which is another very guilty pleasure of mine, I have a project. I will not be acquiring an animal until 1Q2020 at the earliest, I am in the planning stages now and have a lot of other hobby related projects going, but I will have one.
I was looking at the new Terra Orb enclosures at the show and I think that one of these would be a perfect option for what I'd like to do. I spoke to the guys there about it and for the $400 for the very large vertical one they have would be perfect, so this is probably what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to back burner the Tegu idea in favor of a Leachie. lol
