    My new BP
I am new to BPs and I just picked up my first one! He is an VPI Axanthic het Albino. He has been a very fussy eater so I am hoping he will eat for me soon (haven't offered food yet since he is still in the settling in phase). He also is a shy boi, pooped on the car ride home and yesterday doing a spot check of his water startled him so he pooped again. Also when I do spot checks, he starts to breathe deeply if he is cruising outside of his hide!

Pics from the car ride home. He was born in Aug '18 so he is six months old, 121 grams.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...671b4a43ce.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e00cb2369f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7f9b02e109.jpg

Thank you! Right now I am in the stage of wait am I doing this right? Is this behavior normal, lol. He is in a one tub rack with heat tape and I have an Acurite and temp gun. His tub is a 28 qt Sterilite and actually is the same system the breeder uses. He was offered rats at first but his taste has leaned towards mice so trying to get him on rats and then hopefully f/t. He has hides and clutter in form of a fake plant that is very leafy and he really seems to enjoy hiding in that. The only info I don't have on him is his shedding history.

Welcome! Be careful with Axanthics, they are addictive. I started out with one about a year ago and have three now!

You have to post pics of your three! I had a really hard time deciding between a black pewter, my snake, and this gorgeous normal. I love the Axanthic's headcap and mine has a white belly that I adore.

    Why not both?

That's not an option, flip a coin and if you're unhappy with the result, go for the other one

She is gorgeous! I think my guy is gonna stay small. Born Aug 18 and only 121 grams. Hoping to get him to eat more consistently so he can grow.

Any suggestions? Or just slow and steady? I don't plan on feeding more than once a week and looking at his feeding record, he was hatched 8/24 but didn't actually eat until 10/21, then ate once end of Nov, and only started consistently eating weekly mid-Dec!

There’s a feeding guide on the forum somewhere. I feed mine an adult mouse every 5-7 days.

It's no better for snakes to overeat than it is for us..."fatty liver disease" can shorten their lifespan significantly. Just posted the chart mentioned...;)
Better for a snake to under-eat a little than to over-eat a little. :snake: Remember they are far less active as pets.
