i also keep them on paper. personally i find ReptiChips to be uncomfortable but i still use it for the bigger snakes in bigger tubs and bigger enclosures. i think the pieces are just too big and lumpy if u were to use it on new hatchlings in say a 6quart tub.
Edit: whatchu got cooking HQBz?

Just hatched out a pretty nice clown clutch. Hit what I was shooting for, banana enchi clown! I might have to use substrate anyways, any little mess smells pretty bad.

what are u feeding them? b/c it can't be the water!
;)
Edit: also post pix of the clutch. also if i were to go to non-paper substrate for hatchlings, i would go w/ a finer wood/fiber material like ReptiPrime/EcoEarth or even shredded aspen.

I bought a bag of reptile prime and let me say I'm not a fan. Imo I might as well dig up some dirt in the yard tbh

Coconut fiber is amazing at odor control and absorption. But yeah, it’s a frickin mess, and expensive on top of it.
Sent from my iPhone using Crapatalk.

I love reptichip but the price skyrocketed from what is used to get it for so I'm probably gonna start getting the other brands of the same stuff like prococo

Think twice about that...you can give your snake all sorts of things that way, like roundworms, hookworms, pinworms...:O

Never know...and even if we get your humor, others coming to this forum to learn the right things may not realize you weren't serious. ;)

I've seen people who literally didn't know any better than to do just that...throw dirt from the yard in a tank for their snakes...:(
