Found this insect in my substrate
Any idea what this bug is and how he might of got in my substrate? I lifted my BOAs hide and found him in the Reptichip.

Don't know what these are called but they look very similar to a kind of bug I see a lot in parks and playgrounds with wood chips.

Have you introduced any wood, branches, leaf litter, etc. that you have gathered from outside that might’ve brought it in? Or added anything new recently to the enclosure?

I agree...I was thinking I've seen them in my yard...or something very similar. I have big trees, ground cover, grass, mulch, raised beds, moss, you-name-it...
I'm no expert on insects, but I'm thinking it might morph into some kind of beetle?

The bug was about the size of my thumbnail. Nothing from the outside was introduced into the enclosure like branches, etc...

My Reptichip substrate has been in there for months. I've been doing just spot cleaning here and there. Hopefully this was an isolated incident.

Looks like some kind of fungus beetle. I recently used reptichip too and thankfully I didn’t find any bugs. I did have to pull out plastic though. I wasn’t overly impressed with reptichip, kritter krumble on Amazon is better imo.
