Do you have your Location turned on? (cell phone tracking)

i know alotta peeps who have location services turned completely off. esp. if they have a work-issued phone. some have paranoia of the boss. some of the government. some of their significant other. some big tech company. advertisers. etc. etc. so for some or all of these reasons, many usually turn off this feature and service. of course, this is assuming that u have your phone w/ u as u move about your day and life.

i thought this was all kinda creepy at first but now i don't mind. i still get kind of an uneasy laugh when i get a google notification asking me to confirm/save something on my timeline, but at the end of the day - i hope my data goes towards better products, service and stuff. location might even save my life if i get lost or incapacitated.

And for the record, IF I used a cell phone, my location tracking WOULD be turned off*...it's totally creepy!
*UNLESS I was on a road trip- for emergency purposes, I'd allow it then.

I was always against anything with tracking. Always. Then a few bad hits to the head, a few cases of being lost in places I'd been hundreds of times before...:oops:

Only person I let track me is my girlfriend, at least I hope that's it. She put on the tracker after the first time I started forgetting where I was.

I just upgraded to a smart phone from a flip phone two weeks ago. I could easily live without having any phone at all.

As for the location I just leave it off unless an ap needs it to run properly.

I've had a cell phone before, hardly ever used it, & not currently in need of one, lol. Sure don't need a fancy smart phone either. Like, seriously...:cool:

I have it one for what I feel is needed. The main thing I always have off is GPS tagging in pictures.

I do my best to keep my face out of social media, vague locations, gps off, but at some point your phone always tracks you. Whatever options you believe keep the location off, I highly suspect to some degree it is on and you are still tracked.

This is a excellent topic... I usually only have my location known for certain apps I use, but its super scary to think that someone can be tracking your every move. I just saw a story on the news today that if you have an iPhone there is a way to listen in on other peoples conversations that use the Face-to-face chat app.... Talk about invasion of privacy! :ohmygod:

On the other hand, it would be very convenient if cell phones could be miniaturized so that our snakes could carry them & we could track the little buggers when they escape. ;)

While I don't have a cell phone (seriously, I've never even owned one) . . . I can't say for sure that I wouldn't use, for instance, Google Maps on a hypothetical smart phone. That seems like something I might use.

Im one of the Paranoid hahahah. No not really, but I am against marketing and thats what I see the problem as. I have Location on for : Maps, Find My Phone and tracking Wife & 2 daughters & Vice Versa... everything else is OFF.
I did have it on to try it and what I got was a bunch of Nonsense on every App i use including TAPATALK which is how i do this Forum.
The ads and spam weren’t even correct. Because i look things up for my wife and teenage girls i now get all kinds of Sleazy ads trying to sell me everything from Victoria Secret Panties to Diet and Cosmetic Surgery for breast. It was really bothersome. I do not want my phone cluttered with breast enlargements pics and Models that have dehydrated themselves for a Pantie photo shoot. The assumption from that was that these are all things I’ve googled which is incorrect. They take 2+2 and get 6!!! I love pictures of a beautiful body, but being flooded with Smut is not what I want to look at. Also i have a BIG problem with sexualizing KIDS and 60% of the pictures coming up on here were trying to sell something that had Nothing to do with the pictures they show. Example, I would get ads for Music apps, but instead of showing something that had to do with the Music itself, it would show young teen girls dressed in half shirts twirking and grinding to a song.. disgusting and the makers of the ads should be stopped by the FCC. Being a father it really boils my blood about what we teach our kids is important. I was a kid that played Hide and Seek, kick the can, Kick ball & road my bike 12 hrs a day with friends until the street lights came on... now kids have ear buds in, sit around for hours in a day and socialize without ever seeing anyone or Exercising.
