The Adventures of Monty
So, guess now would be a good time as any to start a ‘progress’ thread for my Monty.
For starters, I’m learning that besides filling my heart with pure joy on the daily, having a companion who enjoys warm cuddles on a Sunday afternoon, he also doubles as a jewelry accessory. [emoji6] Who knew?? [emoji1742]:cens0r:[emoji3603]

And the best part....being used to having human crap be a part of my job (bambalance driver), Monty’s kinda smells like a freshly chopped apple sitting in a bag of buttholes. [emoji1360] https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1160570dfa.jpg

Yea, it was actually time for my weekly bath any way, so it was good timing.

He's really beautiful! Let's hope he gets over his "excitement to see you" from now on. BTW, "next time" if you hold up the bottom of your shirt, you won't
have to change pants too...;) (I've had some practice, lol...)

That's awesome! I think (some) snakes are the best pets ever. I never thought I'd love to cuddle with one so much. When I'm having a rough day at work I just look forward to coming home and putting on TV and holding one of my snakes.

Then again, sometimes work can make you feel like "you're the statue [not the pigeon]" so you don't want to come home & have your snake confirm it! :D

Thanks! Funny thing....He actually "marked" me again today, for the 4th time. lol I started putting a big towel in my lap after #2 (pun intended). Pics were taken just after he showed his "appreciation" for me letting him out to stretch a bit.

Thanks! Yes, exactly! I'll take a cold-blooded reptile over 95% of the humans in my life any day. Just another reason why I keep my circle so small.

Oh wow! That a lot of marking! I wonder if he doesn't like your neck? My BP does not like my neck and hes about the size of yours. He much prefers being cradled in my arms or in my lap under a cloth. I think because they are more ground snakes than tree climbers they may not like being in a tree (including a human one) but maybe he'll get used to it in time.
It's nice to see a snake so scared for though!

I was starting to wonder if he didn't like it up there until yesterday. I placed him on my shoulder, he crawls straight up to my neck and just sits there for over 20 minutes. Pretty sure my body heat had a lil' something to do with it - I stay hot.
I've often heard....if you want your Boop to "bloop", just take him outta the cage.

Haha yeah, mine likes to hide in my shirt, also nice and warm. Their favorite is when j wear a bathrobe cinched at the waist...perfect warm cave and sleeves to crawl through and peek out of

I think it's more to do with the activity...BPs tend to sit around in their hides, so the handling moves things along...along with our helpful body temperature. ;)

Ahh yes, makes sense.

You really "should" make a habit of looking for a bulge* just above their vent when you first take them out...it's not a guarantee, but a helpful "forecast".
If there's a bulge, maybe they'd enjoy playing in the tub first, or instead? (*At least then you know to watch & have a rag on hand if they stop & lift their tails...)

Re: The Adventures of Monty
So, I decided to give my boy an upgrade. He immediately settled in 2 days ago and had 2 rats tonight, without miss.
This will be his “forever” home as he has PLENTY of room to stretch out. Was a lil’ concerned that it would be too much room for him since he’s barely 3 ft. and about 770 grams. Looks like he’s gonna break every stereotype known to mankind. [emoji6]
