Good disposal snake.

So we all know that BPs love to refuse food sometimes for months at a time. Well one of my adult females just refused today so I had to dispose the rat. I was wondering if there are any good breeds of snake I can own that could eat my refused meals (and of course their own meals). I know boas are good eaters but their metabolism is slow and if I fed it too much it would get too fat. I just feel bad that the rat had to die to feed another animal who wouldn't eat it so it ultimately died for no reason. I've looked at bull snakes because they're good eaters and pretty snakes but I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas. Thanks!

Maybe it's not always the case but Ive had several carpets that have never refused rat in their entire lifetimes

I can't ever recall any of my King snakes or Boas refusing food .. unless they were in shed mode of course ..

Reticulated pythons are almost always hungry.

Kings are absolute garbage disposals. However, most never need anything bigger than a large mouse...so that wouldn't solve your rat issue.

You can get more than one... :D

There are a lot of python species that would fit your needs. Carpets, water python, macklots, white lipped, olive/Papuan if you want to go a little bigger...

You have lots of options. Just depends on how large of a snake you want. Bull snakes and carpet pythons are great medium sized snakes that are usually very reliable eaters. If you want something slightly larger olive pythons are a great choice. All those snakes are pretty easy to care for too.

Blood, sst or Borneo's are all fat beasts;-)

Someday I do plan on a large snake like a burn but it will be way down the road when I feel I've gained enough experience in smaller breeds first. Start in the shallow end lol. I'll be getting a carpet next year and a boa possibly this year so eventually I'll have this problem taken care of. Hopefully! Thanks!!
