frozen mice in mini fridge
the title is pretty self explained but do yall think mice would do fine in the freezer portion of a mini fridge?

It depends on how long you store them in there and how cold it stays

Re: frozen mice in mini fridge
Yes, I've done it before: Inches away from leftover pizza during finals.

I kept them there for a few months. I noticed a condensation (ice crystal) build-up issue with mine: so I never kept them there longer than that. (I hid them in the communal refrigerator/freezer occasionally muwahaha)

Hiding stuff in bags of frozen veggies (like lima beans-- something no one would want) is a good method

There's your answer. I don't think they're as reliably cold as the full-size freezers...but maybe some brands are better than others too?

Re: frozen mice in mini fridge
also, the reason i am asking this is because when i moved up to ohio she made me get rid of my hognose, but recently i got her to let me get her back and she despises the mice

Freezers are supposed to be 0*, and refrigerators are supposed to be 40*. While water freezes @ 32*, that's not optimal for storage & if the power goes
off you're in trouble fast.

I don't know what your budget is, but they make mini deep-freezers too . .

You might find something on your local craigstlist, too. We found a nice one for $40. If you get the kind that opens from the front, you can put stuff on top of it. Even throw a small table cloth on it to conceal it and make it a night stand or something. Good luck!

Not to "stir the pot" but IF there is room in the main freezer, is there any chance you could use it for mice IF you kept them double-boxed so she NEVER
sees them & they aren't 'near' her food? I've kept frozen rodents (well-wrapped) in my freezer along with my food for decades...no issues at all.

ive attempted that, she let me do it for a few days when the snake had to reside here before but she was so grossed out by it

Re: frozen mice in mini fridge
as of right now, the air itself hasnt gotten cold in it but the plastic in the freezer portion is too cold for my temp gun to even read

I suppose you could take 2 equal (small) containers of water, put one in the big frig & one in the mini, see how they compare as to freezing time...that will give
you a better clue if the mini is close to the same cold temp. you need & would have in the big one.

Re: frozen mice in mini fridge
problem solved: shes letting me keep them in the main fridge now

Woo-hoo! Hint...Keep them well-wrapped AND well-labeled (-with your name, don't remind her they're dead rodents!) so no one opens by accident.
Personally I find that letting ppl know I have rodents in my freezer gets me out of all the potlucks I've always wanted to avoid, lol...;)

Re: frozen mice in mini fridge
I have the bottom of the family freezer for my potato pasties , potato waffles and frozen rodents :)
I have all the rodents in sealed plastic bags in the bottom of the drawer then a piece of cut white plastic on top of them - the plastic acts as a fake floor if that makes sense . Nobody ever sees the rodents ... out of sight out of mind as the saying goes :)

I keep mine in a mini fridge. The door of the small freezer section is broken off and the cold is turned up all the way so it turns the whole mini fridge into a freezer. I would think you'd be okay keeping them in the freezer section, although as stated perhaps measuring the temp first is best.
Edit: nevermind I see your problem has been solved :)
