Black Friday reptile shopping

So who's getting a new snake/reptile this black Friday? I know some sites are doing some discounts. My willpower will definitely be tested lol.

I wish I could get a SD Retic, oh no... I've said too much :whisper: :rolleyes:

I just ordered a 3rd Herpstat for 10% off.. its not that much but each one I’ve gotten on sale so it adds up $$$$. Also grabbed another RHP. Im going to run 2 of them in the 8’ enclosure so ambient temps dont drive me nuts when its -10 below in NY [emoji86][emoji86][emoji86][emoji3587][emoji3587]

Personally I would hold off unless buying local, as the shippers are overloaded between Thanksgiving and Christmas and they usually hire on a lot of new/temporary staffers. Your critter is more likely to be mishandled or lost in transit during this time than at any other time of the year. IMO this year will be particularly brutal as both Target and Amazon are offering free shipping with no minimum purchase.

I have been thinking about it, and would probably jump on something if my AP cage had arrived (or I knew when it was going to arrive), and my tub and UTH were free. Horatio's breeder is going to have some g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s. snakes for sale. [emoji20]

Then again, perhaps that's for the best, with the hours I've been getting at work lately.

That same little beauty has been on my MM wish list. Congratulations! I haven’t 100% decided on my next purchase. I was supposed to meet with someone from CL about a yearling Mojave tonight, but they had to work later than planned. Hoping to reschedule, but haven’t heard back yet. From the photo they sent, she’s quite pretty. If that doesn’t pan out, there’s an expo in Northern VA on Dec 8th...plus my 6 pages of wish list on MM. :D

I’m also waiting on another cage (Reptile Basics) and a Pro Products RHP. The RHP should be here next week, give or take a couple of days. I decided to stick with my Johnson Controls thermostat ($78) for these, so I’ve already gotten it from Amazon. After talking with Bob at Pro Products about the temp swings, his suggestion to reset my differencial to one point has worked perfect, consistent 88-90F even when temps drop in the house at night thanks to some serious drops in temps outside.

I'm so tempted. I'm always tempted !!! LOL

However, I'm clear out of space. I'm going to have to place my little Sunny before I can add another animal.
The breeder that I got a few Desert Ghosts from is having a sale. That is how I got my Arjana 2 years ago :)

The "wanting more" just never stops, does it ..

I am not but I am hoping to live vicariously through someone else's purchase.

I've bought all the animals I'm going to be buying until at least March.

Bring on those pictures though. Lets see what people pick up! :D

You guys just need to be like me. When you say you are "done," be done. Don't add anymore animals (like a scaleless corn, or a Leachie for your Fiance, or a carpet python, or a BCC). Be disciplined and live vicariously through others. Enjoy what you have.

All kidding aside, I do not plan on adding anything this black Friday and I will be going to a reptile show this Sunday.

I am feeling pretty good at the moment and am very focused on Yafe getting better, so I will be browsing and living through Phillydubs, who I will be going with, and enabling.

I've been thinking about getting a blizzard corn snake and this seems like a good time. I might put some of my het pied girls on sale too.

Herptastic has some deals if you need enclosures or racks. I saw that Herpstat thermostats were also on sale recently but not sure if that's for Black Friday or something else.

Dynasty Reptiles also has a Black Friday sale from today until the 26th I think. Certain snakes are included in the Black Friday category, and I believe every other snake on the site is 10% off.

I am with you my friend! Today was the coldest day so far as it only reached -14c ..
Burrrrr....that is freaking cold! But not as cold as I heard in parts of Alberta will go down to -40c later on in the coming months....Thats when your whole body feels like plastic and your limbs dont move at all! :omfg:

She’s a banana mojave (2017). I had been looking at a few different banana combos, but kept coming back to her. I’ve been drooling over her for quite a while. :D

I know that eventually the yellows will fade and more tans will come in. Even then, the banana morphs are still lovely to me...and I love the freckles that come in. I’m tinkering with the idea of breeding her to my banana pinstripe male when she’s old enough and large enough, but don’t know if I’ll go down that road or not. Still some years off if I do, so really she’s just a pet with a nice paint job. ;)

You are exactly the kind of keeper I would want my babies to go to. You keep them forever (look at all your seniors). You take great care of them. You are awesome. To bad you don't live closer, I would love to hang out with you and talk snakes :)

Thank you, Zina! I do love my critters...all critters really. Even though I’ve added a lot this year, and seem like an unsupervised child in a candy store, I really have taken time to consider long term care and expenses. I’ve gotten a few morphs that I have wanted for years. I’m pretty comfortable with the number I have and could potentially add a few more down the road. If I ever vacation down your way, maybe we can meet up and talk snakes...I’d love that. I promise I’m not flighty and prone to biting. lol

In regards to adding snakes, the person I’ve been talking to about the local mojave contacted me last night. I’m considering getting her as well, even though I thought the deal had fallen through due to no follow up after our original meeting got cancelled. That would put me at 13, which isn’t an unmanagable number, especially since all but one are small snakes. I also know that I have four seniors left, so realistically that number will drop...and I’ll be a basket case over each one. :(
