Too soon!!!!!!
Dear Mother Nature,
Please refrain from any more of this nonsense until at least December 23.
Sincerely,

Deal New Englander
Although I am wishing you warmer days I know you are in for anything but. Please don't send down to Texas. I moved here to escape the snow. After living in Germany and places like Virginia's blue ridge mountains, I have seen enough. I do wish you and your snakes a warm and uneventful winter.
Happy Texan

Re: Too soon!!!!!!
Dear Disgruntled New Englander,
We here in Indonesia would be happy to take all your snow, and then some more! I do wish you and your snakes can live out through the winter though!

Snowless Indonesian

I grew up in Massachusetts. When I was a little kid, we had early winters with lots of snow. My mother said the day I was born (mid November, fifty years ago), there was a foot of snow on the ground.
Solar cycles indicate we are in for a few decades of more cold and more snow.
Just sayin'.
My advice: take up knitting. :)

Dearest Disgruntled New Englander:
I'm in the sunny south & we've already had two light snows (each not more than a few inches) but it doesn't belong here, not yet anyway.
And certainly not until my roofers get done with my new roof....just sayin'. :taz: I believe it was shipped to the wrong address?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
& Dear Snowless Indonesian: Careful what you wish for! It's not as fun as it looks. ;)

We had it wet and heavy daytime yesterday, but it was above freezing by mid day so most is melted off. I hate snow.

Re: Too soon!!!!!!
So sorry to hear about the early snow....I’d be disgruntled, too.
No snow here yet, but we’ve had plenty of rain...it’s been a very soggy year. I think I’m molding. :weirdface

I'll say you've had plenty of rain! Our rainfall this year had been about normal...can't imagine how many trees would be falling over here if the ground got super-soggy.
Sure hope you get a break from now on.

Supposedly the next 5-7 days will be sunny. I’m not holding my breath. lol Luckily I haven’t lost any trees yet. I was supposed to put in gravel for a new driveway and parking area on the other side of my house. We haven’t had enough of a break for the ground to dry out for delivery...since May. If a dump truck came in, it would sink to its axels. Maybe this winter?

That's gotta be frustrating! Looks like I'm catching a break here now...it's sunny & warming up, with mostly good (normal) weather for the next week...I think my roof
will get started shortly. Good luck with your driveway...it sounds pretty gooey! It sure is nice to at least see some sun...winter weather can be so gloomy.

i love snow... but for like only 2 or 3 days at a time.
anyways congrats on the 1st snow. you know what they say: When life gives u snow, make snow cones.
:) ;)

It's snowing on Boston right now! But its only a dusting, it won't amount to anything.
One of the things I love about New England is the Winter. Am I alone in enjoying a good snow storm?

As a fellow Texan I can wholly agree that we DO NOT need any of that snow nonsense down here. If someone so much as spills a cup with ice in it people lose their minds and forget how to drive. And if we do get snow in the forecast, then I can't find bread at the grocery store for a week.
(For those of you unfamiliar with the big bread phenomenon in the South, if snow if forecasted we all go buy bread, lots of it, cause you never know, we could be "snowed in" for a whole day, maybe two!)
Also Skyrivers, what part of the great state are you posting from? I'm a DFW area transplant myself, but I've been here 21 years and don't plan on leaving anytime soon.
-
Plz send to Rockies. We need the snow so we may have water to drink later

I'm about 25-30 miles east of Boston...
The snow was nice and fluffy when I went to bed last night, I woke up to a wet, sloppy, heavy mess. I'm all set with that crap.
As I get older, the more I despise the snow. On top of that, my shoulder is a mess (arthritis, torn rotator cuff, and a chunk of bone floating around from one of my dislocations - like a painful pebble in your shoe that never goes away) and I am scheduled for another cortisone injection a week from Monday. Let's just say shoveling = pain. I literally can't even raise my arm to parallel with the ground.
No love for snow at all from me...

 Same thing here...people flock to grocery stores to buy bread & milk, & often empty many other shelves too.
But considering that we really CAN get "snowed in" it makes more sense: only here it's more likely the result of an ice storm...which is really "pretty" (icicles all over,
sparkling in the sun) but it topples trees that put the power out for days to weeks...many power lines cannot be worked on until the roads (with fallen trees) are cleared.
Since weather forecasts are often wrong, we have some reason for paranoia...freezing rain is no joke.

I get that. Were that my situation I'd probably share your opinion.
For me, a snow storm means a possible day off. And to be perfectly honest, I'd much prefer to shovel snow than to go to work.
I'm still very young though (only 40!), so we'll see how I feel in another 10 or 20 years.

Hahaha, I'll be 40 in January.

I guess getting snowed or iced in can be possible here, but currently in Fort Worth, TX it's like 70 and sunny, but earlier this week our high was like 40 and the low was high 20's/low teens. This states weather makes no sense. :weirdface

I’m not far ahead of you Craig...47. Thanks to some injuries in my 20’s, my knee and shoulder are much more accurate than a meteorologist for cold wet weather. :( Cortizone shots can really suck, but at least they give some relief for a little while. Here’s wishing you relief from the pain and the snow.

Thanks for the well-wishes!!!
My knees are a mess too. I just had a second surgery on one a few months ago. Luckily, the cortisone is helping the other...for now...but I've got screws in both (along with a metal rod running through my tibia from knee to ankle and screws in my thumb, mostly hockey injuries).
But it's inevitable I'll need the other knee done eventually, as well as replacements in both. I'm really hoping to avoid shoulder surgery though. Knee surgery these days is a breeze (I had my first 25 years ago and what a difference in medical advancements!!!) but I understand shoulder surgery will be a whole lot tougher.
You're so right about predicting the weather. I usually know 24 hours or more before a storm is coming, especially during colder months.

Ouch...you really do have some reasons to hate the cold and wet. :( Luckily I haven’t had to have any surgery yet. Arthritis in the knee I injured for at least the past 5 years. The surgeries are better these days, but I don’t think any of us want any more of those than necessary. As for shoulder surgery, a good friend had to have his done and it did not seem like fun, but it’s been a whole lot better since he did it. Word of advise, follow through with all of the physical therapy, it really does make a difference.

Yeah, I beat myself up pretty well through the years. Arthritis is no fun either. I always thought that was an "old people" thing....yet I've got it in my shoulder, knees and hands and all before 40.
And you're so right about PT, it makes a world of difference

Trust me, if not for my grandfather still going strong at 98 and my neice and nephew (4 and 1 years old) I would already be gone.
Once Pepere passes and the kids are a bit older Uncle Craig will be moving South.

I thought I would jump in and comment! I use to live in Dallas Texas for 27 years, until moving back to Toronto Canada, which has been 10 yrs ago now. Let me just say that I can remember one year living in Texas when we had a major ice storm and I was driving home from work. Everyone on the road went totally crazy thinking the ice was like rain on the roads but when they tried to stop to brake they would slide right into the car in front of them or off into a ditch...And its pretty funny seeing a pickup truck trying to drive on ice...!!! Anyways I can admit that since moving back to Canada that I am NOT a fan of the winters here, but since all of my family is here it is way worth it and I just grin and bare the horrible 3-4 months of the white stuff!!! :sigh2:

Hey Craig, you're not gonna like the long-range forecast for this winter, they're talking about a really cold winter, especially the northeastern area but including
the eastern half of the U.S. for below-average temperatures. Bleah! (not making MY day either!)

I have seen that as well. I'm not looking forward to it.
Here's to hoping the projections are wrong! Hahaha!
