    why wouldnt they...
my snakes havent eaten lately(vanessa 8 days and zulu 15 days) and im wondering what would cause it.could it be because of stress? what would be some signs of stress? ive noticed my snakes dont really wanna be handled, or get very cautious whenever they're out and i walk in the room or open their cage. also, could it be because its getting cooler and humidity etc. is changing to make them think its time for them to fast for breeding season or however that works? so far they both look healthy so im not really worrying about it right now but when should i start to worry? i just really want to know why they are not eating.

sorry for all the questions:rolleyes: its just this is the first time they've done this so im kinda stressed.

    thanks guys:)

As long as they aren't losing weight, there is nothing to worry about. It's common (especially for BPs) for snakes to slow down eating as the season changes. One of my boas didn't eat for 5 months, and she's still fat.

thanks shelby.:) man its amazing how "someone else saying it" can calm you down! but what are some signs of stress in BPs?

Well, not eating for extended periods of time CAN indicate stress, as well as other things. Aggressive behavior can indicate stress.. constant moving around the enclosure can indicate either an animal not satisfied with it's enclosure, or a male looking for a mate..

my male zulu has been cruisin around his encloser. not a lot just maybe like *puts think cap on* a half hour every week or so. and he started doin that last time he didnt feed. do you think he's trying to find a mate?

It's possible. If he's a baby though, unlikely.

A half hour a week isn't a lot.. and it may just mean he's hungry. My mom's corn snake comes out every friday looking for dinner.

    Re: why wouldnt they...
yeah the half hour is off. let me think again lol. probably about an hour every half week. i dont know if he's hungry or not cuz last time i offered him food he went after it but when he got like 3-5 inches away he like lost interest or something. then it ran away and i pulled it out. not a baby he's 1602 grams, used to be 1680 after his last feed 2 weeks ago. my female is 800 grams, could it be that she is fasting because of something to do with breeding season?

ok, enough messin around, LOL! i noticed zulu was out after i turned his full spectrum light (to simulate day/night cycle) on this morning. he's also not eating. he's searching for a mate right? and i'm still not sure about whats up with vanessa. man, i hope its not stress:(

    Re: why wouldnt they...
Unless something has changed with their setup/husbandry, there is no reason why she would be stressed. It is more than likely the season change.. don't worry!

That isn't something that would freak a snake out.. heck some of mine rearrange their own stuff.

    What did you move where?

    Re: why wouldnt they...
vanessa- i took out one little platform thing that i made out of a shoebox for her to bask on, and i put her half log from next to her cool side hide and moved it to the hot side. im using it as her warm side hide.

zulu- put in a shelf then took it out:P:rolleyes:, took out his branch, but kept the hides in the same spot.

both- i switched aspen to newspaper, raised temps(cuz they were getting colder) and the humidity was down for a few and now im misting there cage to keep it 40-60. before it was around 30, and was colder. thats why i think they stopped eating... for breeding season, or however that works because it started to cool down and get dry.
