Question on adult boa size
Found a listing for a very pretty male BCI.
E-mailed breeder/vender(?), who said to expect the animal to eventually get 6' long.
Can anyone tell me what that length would likely be in pounds, and also, what is the rec. enclosure dimensions for an adult animal that size?
I was planning on a small locality - but the pic of that one...just appeals to me.
Thanks.

Re: Question on adult boa size
Depending on sex of animal. If it’s female could easily reach 7-8 feet.

Re: Question on adult boa size
I would plan for him to be 6ft if he’s a BCI. Could definitely be closer to 5ft though. Depends on a lot of factors.
Male BCI’s are generally significantly smaller than females in both length, but especially girth.
A 6ft female could easily weigh 10 pounds, but probably more. Expect a 6ft male to weigh closer to 5-7 pounds.

That's all?
I've probably been watching too many retic and burm videos.
Thanks!

Re: Question on adult boa size
Bccs are the ones that get a bit bigger but not by much still probably in the 10 foot range but here is a picture of my 7 foot female Bci that weighs 14lbs https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1fef025ad9.jpg

Question on adult boa size
I have found that most people are poor judges of weight and lengths of snakes until they actually measure them. However, I would trust an experienced breeder.

This is Butch, age unknown, he is between 5-6 ft. I have not noticed any growth in the last 4 years. Last time I weighed him he was in the 6-7 pound range. His largest girth is the size of a Coke can.

Butch does well in this 4x2x2.

Punch is 8 feet long, presumed to be 12 years old now. He added a foot in the past year or so. When he was 7 foot he weighed 14 pounds. His largest girth is almost the size of a 1/2. Gal of milk.

This 6x24x17.5 (top cage) is cramped now that it has a jumbo hide and larger soaking bowl. I will be upgrading him to an AP 8 foot cage. I’m not sure on the other dimensions yet.
Both Boas are BC(i). While most people would think that Punch is a female, I know for sure that both snakes are male because of sperm plugs found.

That is a lot of variation.
Reinz, if I recall correctly, I remember when you got Punch. The snake was advertised as a Suri, and it was living w/o a cage in the rafters of the previous owner's home. There are no longer any pet stores here, and no expo's near by, so I haven't got a chance to see in person what I would be comfortable with. A coke can girth sounds doable. Much bigger? not sure.
My biggest is the Sonoran gopher. She is still young, nearly four feet, and the breeder said both parents were unusually large for that species. I'm fine with her; she is always calm. I never drape her around my shoulders, or anything like that (I don't like a head heading toward me that I can't gently deflect), I just handle her on a table top. ....which probably seems like a very limited interaction - but, I find my snakes to be so beautiful.
...and, just love the way boas move.
I'll have to consider it further.
Thanks, guys.

My apologies. I must have misread.
I can see a healthy and lean female being about 14 pounds versus 6-7 for a male.
I’ll have to let you all know in about 4 years when Behira’s full grown on length and weight for her.

Males in general will stay smaller but they can get just as long and heavy as a female. People that say they have 50lb boas have either a hugely overfed boa, a really giant BC (BCc) or simply never actually weighed the snake and are making their best exaggerated guess. They do seem heavier than they are.
As others have said, most males you can expect to be in the 5-6' range.

Correct, good memory distaff! That is why I said the age was “presumably” 12 years, but should have said 13. I’m not so sure that I can believe the guy when he said Punch was 10 years. He also said Punch was 10 foot, when he was only 7. To make matters worse, Punch was power fed. I’m feeding 1/4 the amount with a longer frequency as well.

6 feet isn't as big as it sounds for a BCI. They're long, but still small enough to hold them on one arm.

My male is 5.5-6', definitely longer than his 5*2*2.
Around 6 years old and was 4.5kg/10lb last time he was weighed... He has been on a diet as the previous owner had him looking chunky and 4" thick in the middle.

For some reason, I missed that there was more than one page of listings, and found a lovely little locality male within budget. (The dwarf localities mostly seem to be sold in pairs, which gets spendy, I don't need two of the same thing, and I have no intention of breeding.)
So, I e-mailed that vendor earlier this morning. Am impatient to hear back.
Then, I found ANOTHER beautiful yearling male BCI from the vendor I bought my Trans-Pecos from. Just...so classic boa.
UGH!!! decisions....I'd throw caution to the wind, and just get both the yearling AND the Caulker, but that is OUT of the budget.
