    New Baby from PetSmart
It's been a terrible week and I did something I dont normally do. I impulse bought a new baby. About 3 seconds after I took the first posted photo he lazily opened up and bit me, decided I tasted like crap and released. (Didnt take long to get my first bite. Though this one was more of a kiss.)

Anyways he arrived at Petsmart on the 12th and hasn't been fed yet. He takes handling very well and was very calm while I was taking photos. With his size and what research I did online I'm thinking he may be freshly hatched. Should I wait the full 5 to 7 days to offer food or maybe try a pinky sooner?

And I know. No handling. I had wanted to get his weight after the photos but he gave me the love bite and honestly I was more scared than he was mostly because hes so small and I didnt want to hurt his mouth so I just froze but he let go right away so I was like Okay we will weigh you after quarintine....

Congrats, what a little cutie! While I prefer to avoid bites, hatchling corn snakes have such tiny teeth that I can't even feel them (except like sandpaper) LOL!

Personally, as long as you leave him alone now to settle in w/ no handling, I'd probably offer him a pinky in about 3 days, especially if you see him 'hunting'.

And by the way, I love corn snakes (have 5 currently) so I totally understand the "impulse" buy. ;) Plus, they're easy to live with.

Hes so adorable and tiny and the rich reds and browns in his coloration are amazing. I really couldn't resist. Especially once he just chilled in my hand instead of trying to flee like all the other young corn snakes I've held.

When I put him in his tank he cruised around for a while before settling down under the paper towels. -_- Little shot. Cant help but love him so much already.

Is this your first corn snake? Just wondered if you realize that his colors will probably change as he grows from hatchling to yearling or so...it's very hard to tell
what they'll look like as adults unless you see the parents, & even then, maybe not, lol. But they're great pets! :gj:

Second. Though it's been over a decade and I was a stupid teen with a second hand tank. My cat fell through the mesh because there was nothing on top and it was screen not metal and that was that. -_-

I know they change color but I'll get tons of pics as he grows and document it. Given that it's a petsmart snake, the lineage prolly isn't great but meh. Hes my beautiful baby.

Congratulations on the new addition...he’s lovely! I can’t say I blame you for the impulse buy. That’s a good part of the reason I try not to go near the reptile tanks in any pet store...I’m weak. lol Part of the fun with corns is seeing what you’ll get as they grow. Delayed gratification. :D

I'm enjoying his coloration much more than the ones I'm seeing on morph market. (Lol proud mana mode already) as well as planning a rack system since we are working on getting a melanistic leonis for the husband and a python for me and I may go back and rescue the other corn from petsmart.

I'm friends with the gal who takes care of the animals there and I think she said hes been returned once already.

Husband says I have a reptile dysfunction....
