    Odd mojave?
So a few months ago I purchased an adult mojave from a local pet store. Long story short the guy that sold her to the pet store also had a big c serpents incubator for sale so the store owner hooked me up with him. When I spoke with the original owner he told me he bred a clown to her to make hets and a clown came out! Pleasant surprise for me. But I asked why she looked so different then the majority of mojaves I've seen. He said he's not 100% but he thinks she has harlequin in her due to the dorsal stripe. Looking for your opinions and expertise please. Thanks!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...707fba763c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...77fc61cc4c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eadf30e80b.jpg

She’s cool! Sometimes a single heterozygous gene can cause visible distinctions, though subtle. It could be that the clown gene is subtly displaying itself with the striping.
For example my het orange ghost has a slightly light orange hue compared to normals. Sometimes the heterozygous piebald gene causes peach colored tint near the belly and strong black markings along the belly.

My het albino is way brighter/cleaner than I would expect her visual morph to be (Cinnamon x Spider).

I can't speak on genetics, but my male cinnamon mojo has a near-complete dorsal strip. And has a very similar color

That's a nice looking big girl! I'd just say if anything, the het might be affecting her a little but I really dont see anything besides the normal variances in striping with the morph.

wow that is a BIG girl!!

i'm not a fan of saying an animals has another gene (like Harlequin) unless that was in the snakes' pairing and genetics. it's a nice descriptor but it's still a poss. until it's prove it out. she is really pretty tho and i'm glad she is het Clown.

Ax1!!!!! I'm loving the color on that baby. That dark head is just stunning!

Thank you all for your responses!

This is my boy about 2.5 years ago - his colors have faded a lot since then.

Nothing - he's just a spoiled pet. I don't plan on breeding. (and the snark in me wanted to reply "a belt", but that's just not tasteful lol)
he's about 1050-1100g now and very similar in color to yours. I need to get a good natural light pic of him at some point.

Lesser/butter/ lesser platinum are all the same gene, started as different lines but have been interchanged so much its pointless to keep all of the names imo.

I would agree to some extent. But IMO there are differences in each line. The one zinccubus posted I would consider a lesser due to the black. I'm in florida and our butter line around here has no black. Although things have been mixed changed and somewhat confused if you spend enough time with each gene you will see the subtle differences. Below is my baby butter pastel female.

I could post my half dozen lesser/butters and noone would guess who is who corectly based on coloring. They all vary even within so same clutch on light/darkness. Its all just guessing short of making sure I keep things labeled by whatever my adults were sold as.

Again I agree with you. But when you have a butter, lesser bel have babies. I'm sure it's easy for some to mislabel and sell them. So as you or other receive them mislabeled and you continue it spreads and mixes. Something we will never be able to prevent or change. I have actually seen the same exact snake from the same business listed under 2 different genes just try to appeal to peoples wants. It's sad and we must be cautious as consumers and hobbyist.
