Brian Barczyk opens hands on reptile "zoo"
I think this is a super cool idea. Not a huge fan of the man himself, but I do like this idea. Hopefully it does well for the reptile community.

ive been watching his videos on it and the idea is really cool (not a big fan of him either) it opens up peoples eyes to the hobby and that snakes aren’t inherently bad. theres a place in the nashville area that somewhat? has the same concept. its mainly a store but you can go in and handle anything you want if you ask.

The monitors in that shop are not being cared for the best they could be (I don't know who keeps supplying them to him) but otherwise I don't see much problem.

Like you both said, I'm not a big fan of his either, but this is a good venture IMO. Not terribly new though...many zoos use docents to hold reptiles for up-
close "meet & greets" with the visitors....it really can help to change minds, though most people going there are already open to reptiles or they wouldn't
    be there.

I dont mind him at all.. seems a bit dramatic but there sure is a lot worse in the world. Overall I think he’s a positive person and that something this country lacks big time. Id love to go but doubt I ever will. Im the kind of guy that likes to do, not watch [emoji12]

I think his zoo is a step in the right direction hopefully in terms of husbandry and cage size. I don't hate him, I think his personality is slightly fabricated for his Youtube channel....or he's simply the most positive person on earth. Take your pick lol. He's a master of marketing regardless, that dude sells a LOT of colubrids and low price BPs.

I've been watching the progress on YouTube and it's exciting to see it all coming together. I'd love to go check it out if I ever was up in that direction. I wish there was more stuff like this around... pet shops are always so crap when it comes to reptiles, and zoos aren't super hands-on typically. Plus it's cool that he's showing off some of the "designer" animals because that can definitely catch a lot of peoples attention who normally wouldn't be into reptiles (I brought the Smithsonian's "SNAKE" book to a camp for 5 year olds one times, and they all thought snakes were gross until they saw the pretty pink corn snake...).

Man, I'd love to go if I can scrounge up the money to get over there. Maybe if I get a big enough tax refund next year.

I've been watching his blog series on it. He and many others have put a lot of hard work in to that place. I hope it is successful.

Incidentally havr you ever seen an actual zoo's reptile area? I have been to Atlanta Zoo and Montgomery zoo and both are trash compared to what Brian has done.

I took my niece to a small zoo in York, Maine two summers ago. The reptile section was pretty small, but overall pretty well maintained. They also had a BCI in a small photo booth/hut type thing where for $10 you could hold the snake and get a pic. The staff seemed pretty knowledgeable from the little I could hear while watching for a few minutes.
