    Waiting on a new retic....
I'm currently waiting on a retic......but I don't know what I'm going to be getting yet. I was on a wait list for a purple albino male dwarf. The breeder knew I wanted a smaller snake and wasn't going to breed so offered a lavender albino male SD. Pictures were sent to me, we agreed on a price, I paid for the snake plus shipping. The day the snake is supposed to be shipped out I got a call from the breeder about an issue that arose. His policy is to verify the gender of a snake again before it goes out. Well the male I was going to receive was actually a female. Now here is where things got tricky. From the clutch the breeder thinks he had a 1.1 pair of identical looking snakes. Prior the breeder sold the "female" to someone that wanted to use her for breeding. The breeder is now second guessing which snake had got sent out to the other customer and if the pair had somehow gotten mixed up or if there were actually 2 similar females and one got mis-sexed. The breeder went back through all the photos he had of the pair and can't find a time when they would have gotten swapped. Currently the breeder and I are waiting to hear back from the other customer on verification of the gender of the animal received. Depending how that goes I'll have several options.

Option 1: The snake I was waiting on gets sent to the first customer and their snake gets sent to me.
Option 2: I take the lavender albino female SD, and other customer keep his snake.
Option 3: A somewhat similar snake but upgraded to lavender albino tiger male SD.
Option 4: Stay on the waiting list till the breeder has something else I like.

Not sure what I would do in this situation. I might ask for a refund and go with someone else who is more organized but I do understand mistakes happen. Right after I get a snake I have the sex verified so make sure of what I have. It is a good practice to have.

Breeder sounds kind of confused or doesnt keep good records. I would be leary of the claims of a SD if he cant even keep his snakes' sexes right. Who is to say he doesnt mess up the percents and you end up with a full sized male mainland.

Re: Waiting on a new retic....
I will probably stay with the breeder. The fact that he called to discuss the situation and wants to verify what the other customer received and rectify the situation for all parties shows that he has customer service and will stand behind the animals he produces. Mistakes do happen sometimes. I once threw a male fancy mouse into my tub of grow out females by accident. That put my selling of pet mice on hold for a few weeks because I couldn't guarantee that a customer wouldn't magically get a litter of mice from the one pet mouse they bought.

Usually if I get an animal as a pet I won't bother verifying the sex but if I plan to breed it then I will verify.

The breeder is a big name in the industry so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt that it's not a record keeping issue and more of just mis-sexing the animal.

Typically if we don't plan on breeding and animal we will go with a male since they stay smaller most of the time, but a female isn't out of the question. Also my other SD is male and I'd prefer him not to smell a female nearby.

Sucks to hear man, I saw the pics and thought, wtf, had to look at her markings good. Thought it was a pic of mine I recieved last week. Hopefully it works out, go with what you want us all I can say. That's how I purchase mine, dont let another influence my buy, cuz at the end of the day, it's your animal that you take care of and see everyday.

Sorry to hear that happened, probably put a damper on the whole ordeal. Hopefully it’ll all work out. Hey mistakes happen to the best of us, regardless who you are or what you do. Pretty snake, like I said hope it all works out. Best of luck.

I Myself would go with the other Male unless the other customer is willing to swop. Whatever works out was meant to be... I only go for males in the giant breeds.. a couple 2-3 ft is a lot in my book.

C.Marie - Yeah as I said earlier I'm not to worried about it being a record keeping error. Mistakes happen to everyone, but it's what we learn from them and do in response that defines who we are.

oodaT - It's not listed anywhere. You have to reach out to him and he will work with you considering price, morph, size, breeding plans...etc to get you the animal you want. Then he takes your contact info and works off a waiting list.

Gotcha, guess I'll see what he can do for me sometime.

Re: Waiting on a new retic....
After some waiting it was determined that the other customer did receive the female the ordered. That means that only one snake got mis-sexed. So that leaves me with the choice of 2 snakes.

option 2: SD lavender albino female

    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...909bd92d_c.jpg

option 3: SD lavender albino tiger male

    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...bd1a6c1f_o.jpg

Each week I get to work with a dwarf super tiger male and baby lavender albino tiger mainland female. Most tigers (except Wallace) don't really do much for me because I really like a lot of pattern and very contrasting colors. After talking to Garrett a bunch I decided to go with option 2 the SD lavender albino female which was original snake I agreed to. She will be arriving some time next week and will be getting named Sally.

Well it's probably at least 50% since garrett doesn't call it SD if it's below that. I'll know better when she arrives and can look at her paperwork.

Looks like she is 12.5% Jampea, and 50% Kalatoa.
