BP.net members with/meeting BP.net members
I know that from time to time, members of the forum meet up at reptile shows, among other places.
I started this thread for BP.net members that meet to discuss and/or just post pictures.
I thought it would be nice to see and to get this thread started.
Phillydubs and I met on here at the beginning of this year, give or take, and began talking and texting soon after. We have a lot in common and finally, we both had a free weekend.
Phillydubs came from Long Island NY to visit me in almost Massachusetts, Enfield, CT. It took him a good three hours and he spent about 8 hours here, including 3 with my reptile crew.
Contrary to popular belief, Phillydubs is actually a really nice guy, who was great with all my 13 animals (8 reptiles and 5 dogs). I took a bunch of pictures, inserted below, but sadly, Katie was in California this weekend, and there was no one to take a picture of me and Phillydubs together.
Not sure how easy that would be anyway. He's 6'2" at least and towers over me at 5'4".
He hand fed Frank (BTS) and gave butter-worms as a treat to one to the Leopard Geckos who loves them. He held everyone. I believe Shayna was the first adult female BP he's held and it's safe to say baby Solana (Scaleless Sunglow Motley Red Factor Corn) blew his mind. He also truly enjoyed Figment (adult hypo-lavender corn) and loved my 2 year old Ghost BCI female, Behira (what's not to love - such a great personality and temperament). I offered to let him hand feed Behira, but sadly, he turned me down.
Regardless we had a great time meeting, catching up, hanging with the crew, and Phillydubs even got a nice, plastic, front opening, 45G tank out of it. I hope there was more to the visit than that, and I'll let him comment later, but we had a great time and, again, pictures below.

What do you mean by "more to come " .. ?
I did suggest, a while back , that strange 'things' and odd 'threads' were appearing in our UK forum and quite possibly this forum ...

@dakski, we should have grabbed a photo at the last Manchester Expo. Maybe in Oct?
-
awe, this is so nice!!! ahhh, i'm so jelly. it sounds like you guys had a great time. :)
-
I was just kidding... LOL! I was exhausted this am and couldn't leave that thread just hangin!
It was a lot of driving and a jam packed day but wellllll worth it!!
As my bro bro said, we started to chat in the beginning of the year before I had any snakes... He had been giving me great advice on threads and I just sent a PM and said hey mind if I text a few questions and it sort of took off. We have many things in common away from the reptile world so its very easy to relate on multiple levels which is nice as well.
What an awesome day though! As soon as I got there we ran to the one and only local reptile specialty shop which was super cool, a lot of nice and interesting animals there for purchase. I handled some jungle jag carpet that blew both our minds, if I was there alone and not 3 hours from home that fella may have come home!
I got to ride in his BEAST, which is a suped up porche that literally flies, what a fun experience. We ate some amazing food along the way as well.
The true highlight of the trip was obviously the full introduction to his crew of reptiles. A very awesome, diverse and kind collection of tame and fun animals! Dave was super lax with my interaction and was just like here is the keys go get them! I had each and everyone out for quite some time and really got a feel for their personalities. Each are so very different but all so chill and easy going, true pleasure to handle them all. I had seen many pictures but as we all know, very few photographs do reptiles justice.
A very fun day and I hope the first of many! He owes me a return trip to meet my ever growing crew and we would like to get our ladies together as well, so definitely more fun adventures to come with this dude.
I am writing this from work but I got some great shots as well that I will post later...
It's hard to choose a favorite and I actually really loved figment his hypo lav corn but Boa's are just so damn cool hard not to pick behira... Then Solana and her glowing arse comes out and shes like a corn with a boa personality and scaleless to boot! Lucky I got to hold them all and didn't have to choose cause that would have been hard!

So cool when world's (virtual and actual) collide!

I'm kinda on the fence about making the Oct. expo, but if there's a few BP.net friends going I can probably be nudged in that direction fairly easily.

Re: BP.net members with/meeting BP.net members
I had the pleasure of briefly meeting dboeren a few weeks back when we divvied up a feeder order we placed together. He and his family were headed to dinner and I met them at the restaurant. They were very kind and even invited me to join them for supper but I had to get home. We agreed to meet up again to see each other's collections when time permits. Looking forward to our next visit Dave. I think CKuhn is close to us too so we might make it into a party! :)

I shared the same pleasure of meeting up with dboeren for a feeder order and even got to hold his carpet python which was very exciting. I was telling him that outside of the local Repticon and this board, I don't think I've ever come across anyone who shared an interest in snakes (or reptiles for that matter). Let me know when the next meetup is. I'd love to see your collection Ziggy.

Missterdog, redshepherd, and I are friends in real life! We met through the forum and quite often chat + play games online together. This summer they flew to me and we rented a house for a few days. We had so much fun talking and laughing with each other- it's crazy how well we click!
Honestly they have become some of my closest friends. I don't know how I got so lucky to have these sweet, kind, hilarious people in my life 💖

Seriously, missterdog and kira and I basically clicked immediately upon seeing each other for the first time in person, as if we've all known each other for years! It didn't feel unfamiliar or new at all between us, which is super weird! But it's actually only been about 1.5 years, and that was the first time I've seen their faces in person. Somehow our personalities just mesh extremely well, better than most people I've met in real life.
We met on this forum! I'm super thankful they chatted me up in the first place, because it's hard for me to initiate chats with people. :D

very cool! but why no fanny packs? (Lol!) i think we should all meetup to go buy shoes and snakes someday.

I'm still amazed we all met here! What are the chances we became so close?
Legit I have never met friends where I've clicked right away so naturally! Best of all Kira and redshepard have been good, healthy influences in my life and I feel I can totally be myself around them rather than worrying about modifying my personality to cater towards a friendship group.
We all seriously had a blast! One day we're hoping to go herping together!

Phillydubs came to visit and pick up some reptile tanks I no longer need.
He got to meet Katie and spent some time with the growing girls (Behira and Solana).
Pictures below and I am sure he and Katie/SunshineWalker have some to post as well.

Fun fun times!!!
that Solana is something else but Behira is a show stopper!!
no pics of the leapin leechie?? What a cool animal but that thing soars and likes to get into trouble. You need more of a leashing leechie! Get her a diamond studded one like the queen she is. Cool animal for sure
dave did a clean job of wiring his system with all mounted displays. It looks nice and mint...
thanms for hospitality you two. Hopefully we can do more bp meet ups.

Anytime Phillydubs!
I've been on SunshineWalker to post some pictures of you and Ezzy, but not sure how far I got with that. Hopefully, soon!
Yeah, Solana is glowing and growing! Behira is looking good and has the coolest personality. Glad you enjoyed everyone!
BTW - Thanks for stealing my cuddle bug, Sam, the Shih Tzu, he does like it downstairs, but the whole night???????? Dognapper!

Hahahhaha, we'll chat once I'm healed up a bit. But we'll make sure the "Phillydubs" theme of this thread continues on. The snake room will be completed and the crew and I will be looking forward to your visit.

Re: BP.net members with/meeting BP.net members
So I had the extreme pleasure of meeting the one and only ‘El Ziggy’ this weekend. It’s always nice to put a face with a name to some of the people you speak with on this great forum and this visit did not disappoint. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Ziggy and his super cool son. We talked a good while before heading to the snake room and checking out his impressive collection. I was blown away by such beautiful creatures. He took out all eleven of the snakes for me to see; even risking his life by handling a pissed off 8 foot Bull Snake ;)....If you’re a fan of Carpets...then this is the man to talk you! Me personally, I fell in love with his puppy dog tame Motley BCI. In fact Ziggy, if you ever run out of space, give me a call and I’ll glady take him off your hands! Thanks again for being so gracious!

That is great that y’all are able to meet up. :)
I feel like like the lone stranger where I’m at. Don’t know any snake people in my area. :(
There used to to be a Retic breeder, but he moved. Now the GTP breeder is selling everything off. Hopefully I’ll find someone else.

Re: BP.net members with/meeting BP.net members
A month or so ago, when I was sick with COVID, etc. Homebody reached out and offered to help with the reptiles. I was really touched, especially since he lives about 2-3 hours away.
I didn't want to get him sick and Katie and I were able to hold down the fort, but I told Homebody he should come visit at some point anyway.
Well, Homebody and his children came to visit yesterday. We had a great time and I think they all enjoyed the reptile crew. We also had lunch and went to Riverside Reptiles, the local reptile zoo here in Enfield, CT.
It was awesome meeting such enthusiastic reptile lovers and fellow BP.net members.
Solana was a big hit (Scaleless corn) as was Jeff (VPI T+ Sunglow Motley Jungle BI). The family had never met a scaleless snake before and it was really cool to show Solana off. Further, they had never held a boa before. I think they were surprised at how chill and inquisitive they were. Behira (female BI) is an impressive size now, although still growing, and was a big hit as well. She was her typical cool self and very relaxed and mellow.
I think Yafe (CP) was also well liked.
Not one snake was in shed, which is unusual, but worked out well.
Further, Frank (BTS) was a big hit with Homebody's daughter especially. She really enjoyed him and it was feeding day (partially planned) for him, so she got to feed him. He happily gobbled down his food for her. I was happy about that. He's gotten less shy, but used to only want to eat in front of me and sometimes Katie.
It was a great day and I was happy to share my love for reptiles. Looking back on this thread, I was also shocked and how much everyone has grown.

Yeah, if you live within 2-3 hours of dakski you should definitely plan a visit. Like others on this thread, I don't know many reptile enthusiasts, so I haven't had the opportunity to handle many different species. Other than his ball python, Shayna, all of his snakes were firsts for me and my family. dakski and his wife were lovely hosts and we all had an absolutely thigh slappin' good time.

That is OUTSTANDING! :sweeet: And you have a beautiful family, Homebody- as if you didn't know? ;)
(Apparently dakski/David has opened the nation's first "snake modeling agency"? :D Great idea, by the way.)

Katie and I are always welcome to visitors and love showing off the reptiles. Homebody, I forgot about a pic too. Definitely next time.
Anyone who wants to stop by just PM me!
Additionally, the feeling is mutual, Homebody. You and your family were amazing guests and your enthusiasm and passion for reptiles is contagious.
