Help!! Need Information!!

I have a ball python, approx. 2 months old, male, i was told all this when i bought it. We noticed right away that his tongue is pale white, lookes almose translucent. What does this mean?

I asked my local repatile shop and they said they had never heard of that

apparently u shouldnt worry about it...thats adams way of saying dont worry dude.

But I'm interested............Does it make my snake rare? Is it worth more? I was told one or both of it's parents may have been albino.........

LOL ... no, it's not "worth more" ... if both of it's parents were albino, it would be an albino ... and if one of it's parents were albino, it would have cost you a couple of hundred dollars.

It's a normal.

SOoooooooooooooooooo....since you don't know how much I paid for it, it could have come from one albino parent.....BUT....Does that explain the tongue? Also, I was told when i bought the snake that it was a 50/50 chance it could have albino babies. What can those usually sell for?

You're right, I don't know how much you paid for it, but I do make money breeding and selling ball pythons and I'm actively involved in this industry every day of my life ... I know a lot more about ball pythons, how they're sold, and the type of people that buy them than you can imagine. ;)

SOoooooooooooooooooo .... your snake is a 50% possible het for albino ball python. One of it's parents was a normal looking snake that carries the gene to make albinos. Your snake itself may or may not have that gene (hence the 50/50) but if it does and if it is bred to another snake that has the gene, you have a 25% chance of producing an albino for each egg in the clutch.

Much like the guy that produced your snake, many breeders also unload their male possible het albinos in pet store because they are hard to sell for what they are and thats the easiest way to move them.

On the open market, your snake is worth about $50 retail. You might be able to get more from someone that doesn't know any better, but that wouldn't be all that ethical.

I meant, if my snake had albino babies, what are those worth

i've seen albino babies priced this year between 1700-2500 dollars.
100% het girls 600 and up
100% het boys 150-200 dollars

Yup, he's right.

Albino's can range from 2000-25000 dollars. Some could even be more. This all depends on the type of albino and if it is male or female.

100% totally normal ... not common, but it doesn't mean anything ... unless your ball python is in poor health??? ... He's not wheezing is he?
