Does anyone else's BP do this?
Clark is out and about exploring his new setup, and in the process I noticed him wedging his head between the front "splash" guard and the sliding door. With this being our first PVC cage, I don't know if this is fairly common with sliding doors or if it's more an issue with BoaMaster's design.
I'm not too concerned about him getting stuck or escaping at this point, and eventually he'll be too big to get his head in there. Mostly just curious. :)https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...53191c9fb5.jpg

It's just him being adventurous. They are secretive animals so they try to get into every possible crack, crevasse, or hole that they can fit through.
Its normal behavior. Just make sure you have atleast two hides and he will soon relax in those hides!
Great looking BP BTW!!

If that was my snake & cage, I'd put some folded corrugated cardboard in that space so he cannot keep doing this. Snakes do occasionally hurt themselves
seriously because they can be clueless about what they can fit through. In the wild, they get stuck & die in 'bird netting' & chicken wire used in gardens, for
example. (-in those cases, their directional scales hang up & they cannot back out, they get stuck halfway) It's possible (?) that he's smelling 'fresh air' from
the opening there and is convinced he can get out. (I've put a snake on the floor & had them head to the closed sliding glass door time after time, drawn to
the bit of outside air coming in through the cracks...)

Thank you for the advice, I'll see about fitting some cardboard there. I definitely don't want him to get hurt. Tomorrow is feeding day, which is why I think he was hanging out by the door.

Thanks! He's a great snake. We upgraded him to 2 medium RBI hides because it was kind of funny watching him try to fit in the smalls. :) Thinking of giving him a couple of more options, though, since there's so much space and I want to clutter it up a bit more.

Re: Does anyone else's BP do this?
Mine does this exact same thing and it annoys the carp out of me. My fix was a really easy one that illiterates that these guys are not the most intelligent. So, as you know the gap is only wide enough for them to wedge their faces in on one side, so I cut a black towel to fit over that half of the cage and at night when he starts getting restless, I hang it over that side of the cage. He immediately stops trying to wedge his face and moves to the other window where he can't do that. I call it his curtain. It like some tiny part of his brain goes "oh, wall" and he moves over. I've checked and checked, even left the last 1/4 inch exposed so I could watch, but when the curtain falls he stops wedging his face. I don't know why, but it works.

Ya gotta love their silly persistence...;) He's such a handsome snake too, btw.

I have 3 of the boamaster cages. I’ve seen my boas do this as well. I wouldnt get to alarmed about it. My rb 4x2 has same design. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b1635748f0.jpg

Re: Does anyone else's BP do this?
I agree to stuff that gap.
My ball pythons are in exo-terra enclosures, so can't do this, but my jungle carpet is in a neodesha enclosures with a single sliding glass door and she used to do that. She'd wedge her face in that gap to the point where she'd get stuck. It was horrible because with her head in there I couldn't open the door to help her. Very stressful and frustrating. It would squash her face and she would freak out. She's fine btw, but I seriously thought I'd come home from work and find her dead once I realized she was doing it. I used weather stripping and a wooden dowel to stuff the gap. Been fine ever since.

Thanks! I'm convinced she has YB in her, even though she was sold as just a pastel

I actually scrolled down to your signature to see what she was and was surprised by just the pastel. She reminds me of our Pastel Vanilla Yellow Belly. Either way she's gorgeous!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0349736b15.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...baa7894e4d.jpg
