Finally set up our BoaMaster!
So this 4x2 BoaMaster has been sitting on our coffee table for weeks, and we finally set it up! I kept going back and forth on the heat panel and then forgetting I needed to order one so it took a while, LOL.
My husband set it up and it was pretty straightforward. Sealed the seams with silicone and added two LED puck lights. I've read mixed reviews on BoaMaster but had a pretty good experience except for the wait time. Took a couple of months to get it instead of the 2-3 weeks we were expecting. I'm not the biggest fan of it being PVC foam board, so we may go with a different manufacturer for the next one, we'll see.
I'll try to get better photos when there is better lighting. Clark, our first ever BP, ended up getting the upgrade. The humidity is still pretty high because of fresh cypress mulch. So far the RBI heat panel has been awesome. I can't wait to upgrade everyone. What material would you want besides pvc foam board?

Nice enclosure. I'm sure Clark will enjoy the new digs. I like your shelving unit too. Where'd you find that?

Very nice, just curious, what’s with all the books?

On the second and third shelf, they appear to be “holding down the lids”. Take a closer look. Easier to see on an IPad.

When I had tanks I had to use heavy books to hold the lid down on those tanks that did not have locking tops. I heard a lot of negative things about the locking clips, so I never tried them.
With my tanks with large Carpets in them I had to add dumbbells on each corner. :) Yeah the books and weights don’t look good, but it was only temporary for me. I knew that I would be converting over to PVC’s.

Some where on here is a thread were I linked the good clips. Zoo Med heavy duty. I swear by them. Four per lid, you can literally lift the tank by the screen lid. Let me find the picture, I know amazon sells them for sure.

Thanks, that is good to know!
Had I known about those a few years ago, I would have used them. :)

What kind of keeper would I be without extras, lmao. These are the bomb, don’t even look at the regular one’s. Four per tank, no ball python is gonna push up without a crow bar. The structure of the lid would probably bend first. They’re strong, but gotta use four per tank.

Thanks, I saved that pic. I might get a set or two since I still have some tanks in the closets. I may need one or two for quarantine down the road.

Thanks! I don't know the technical names without looking them up, but I think most companies (Reptile Basics, AP, etc) use a harder material. The PVC-coated foam board dents pretty easy (like when we were trying to get it to fit on a shelf) and I'd be worried about stacking the units.
But to be fair, I knew that going in. The quality of the cage overall seems pretty good, especially for the price point.

At Lowe's! https://m.lowes.com/pd/Gladiator-EZ-...nit/1000197487
It's really sturdy. We were hoping it would be large enough to hold a 4x2 cage on each of the shelves, but it's not quite wide enough for that. Maybe a 48"x20" would be fine.

Ha, yes, the books are holding down the tops! It's not a permanent solution but works for now. Coincidentally we had to rearrange our room when we got snakes because the snakes are where are bookshelves used to be. Now are books are on a different wall. :)
Most of the cages are also stacked on cans of cat food. 😂

Thank you for this suggestion! This seems like it would be a lot more secure than books, lol.
