Mad love for Rainbow and some of my other herps.
Took the snakes out to Petco this weekend and did some education. I need to get someone to photograph when I do it. All my snakes got mad love. Only grabbed 2 quick photos. Was a busy day. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ebd7c99f00.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1ee8763bf1.jpg

I have an arrangement with the store. They work hard to improve their husbandry after I showed up one day and worked to educate them. Now they let me call a hour or 2 in advance and bring them out. I see people carrying their snakes in the store more often now. I think you have to build a relationship to do more than just walk through the store with one in hand. Everyone there are supper supportive of education and animal care. It has to do with the management caring so much in this case. Walk softly when you begin and build a relationship. Go from there.

Was this an organized demonstration or did you just bring your pets? My local ones are notorious for poor reptile care and mites so Id never risk bringing mine in or shopping there and bringing them back to my collection. I hope your good intentions don't come back to bite you!

I have worked with them for a few months now and helped them grow in their care and I have a relationship with the management to do this from time to time. I call ahead of time to make sure is a good day and time to do it.

down a shopper with another type of pet either, as it tends to promote their sales. Only thing though is the risk of transmission (mites etc) but I've not seen
any in local store, not like that's a guarantee though.
The only reason I support this particular store is their dedication to animal care is amazing.

That is so awesome that you do that. I believe its important to educate others when we have the opportunity. Some many people have such a bad opinion about snakes and think they are all out to eat us...LOL

Was that an Animaniacs reference? That show was epic!

I do worry about it. I have everyone use hand sanitizer and the store has great husbandry practices. I give them hints when they miss the mark a little and push them in the right direction. Safety is always a concern. For both animals and people. I go over how to hold and what not to do before I give to someone who has not handled mine before. I now have groupies that swarm and hand out when I am there. Is nice to have fun like this. Everyone loves Rainbow and gives her proper respect.
Education fun and hands on. Love it.
Just a side note. Rainbow seamed fascinated by his red hair. LOL
