Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Disturbing on so many levels...

Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Well now I know that watching my soon to be snake won't be a problem.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!

Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
"what a cam hog."
lol feedings are just fascinating.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Man, you're really good with a camera. That was kick azz.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
good video and great editing but i just didn't like the two mice in the tank at the same time
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
lol cool video.. I can't wait to see my ball python eat 2 mice..my is a baby for now...
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
It was a disturbing video, But i must say awsome job. Your realy good with the camera i must say.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
um...ya...the only things I was thinking about when I saw that was the severe lack of responcibility and general ignorance of safe feeding methods.
I want to say so much more about the whole TWO LIVE mice in at the same time...but the words would not be appropriate.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Well, it is my friend's new pet and I DID lecture him about that very thing. Believe me, after talking with him he isn't going to do it again.
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Well, someone's going to have a good career as a cameraman but very dangerous putting two live mice in with a snake. Also the substrate could be a problem with impaction. If the snake's going to be fed in the viv, then paper towel or even newspaper would be a lot safer - and also frozen/thawed mice!
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Yup, been over all that. He does have an entirely new perspective on keeping "Rosco".
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
It can be quite entertaining watching them "kill" an already dead rodent, then give it a couple of extra squeezes - just to make sure:D
Re: Double Meal.... Oh Yeah!
Very cool vid.
I'll give a slightly different perspective here.
Obviously the owner was watching the snake the entire time, so the danger to the snake is minimal. A mouse chewing on a snake usually happens when the rodent is left overnight or longer with the snake.
Plenty of people (including Adam who has 200 and some BPs) feed live on wood shavings with no problems. Snakes in the wild aren't going to eat on newspaper, that's for sure. :)

I've actually seen more problems from ball pythons that were impacted by accidentally ingested paper towels or paper that they were being fed on than from substrate impaction.
Over the past 25 years I've fed TONS of ball pythons (Live, F/T, & PK) on just about every substrate you can name, and I've never had a problem with impaction.
A ball pythons gastric acids can break down rodent hair, bone, and even the celluloid contents of their stomachs ... aspen and cypress don't stand a chance. ;)

Funny you should say that, I was JUST thinking about that last night. I was like "well, if they can digest the mouse bones and teeth, surely their digestive system can handle a few stray pieces of substrate that might go down too". Kashmire's on Aspen by the way.
