I'm OLD!
Okay, I know, not really.
But I'm turning 25 next Tuesday (July 31). Weird! A whole quarter of a century... That sounds like a lot when you word it that way. I'm certainly in a place I didn't think I would be in at this point in my life (married, working full time, living on my own, and owning TWO big dogs, fish, AND snakes and lizards!), so I's a weird feeling. I'm glad to be where I am. I'll be moving into a house shortly as well, so that's a lot to be thankful for. I also have a lot of things to worry about, but I suppose that's just life.
Anyway, I was just thinking about it, so I thought I'd make a post. :) I don't know what I'm going to be doing for my birthday yet, but it likely won't be much, since I have to go to work, ewww. Oh well.
Here's some famous July 31st birthdays for fun!
- J.K. Rowling (and Harry Potter!)
- Wesley Snipes
- BJ Novak
- Zelda Williams (Robin Williams's daughter!)
- Lil Uzi Vert

It's great that you have it together at a relatively young age. There are many in your generation that don't. Keep it up, go to work every day, stay out of debt, and take pride in everything you do. The good will continue to come.

Yup! I wised up at about 35 on that one. I do everything with cash. If I don't have the cash for it, I don't buy it. If you look at how much money that goes to interest it will make you ill.

Thanks!! I'm honestly surprised sometimes at how well I have everything together. Sometimes it feel like everything is falling apart around me, haha! But when I take a step back, I realize that it's all come together pretty well.

......... Um....... Well............ Funny story....
That being said, I do have a handle on the debt I do have and it's not too bad. I should be able to pay it off fairly quickly. I use credit cards for nearly everything, but am good about using them like a would debit cards. Let's just say that I don't have the best relationship with my mother and she put me into a terrible financial situation that I am deal with relatively well.
-
The best is still yet to come!! You got a whole lot of life and experience ahead of you.
Enjoy!

Thank you!! And yeah, I know, lol. But I am the oldest I've ever been!! Hehe!
I accidentally made my coworkers feel bad in a team meeting last week... We were doing a game where we grabbed a penny and say something that happened in that year. I got 1999, and my coworkers chimed in saying things like they graduated college, went on trips, that kind of thing. And I said, "I was in first grade...." They all groaned, lol!!
-
I work with seniors we have to some really old pennies for that game:rofl::rofl:
-
When you get as old as me you start to have problems remember what year it is now let alone what you did during any given year.

Whaaat? With all the cool snakes you've been producing?? I figure those would be pretty cool year markers! Though to be honest, I don't know what I did 2005-2015, aside from change grades/schools. It's all just school, as far as I know.

ROFL. I am one of those people that goes at full speed all the time. I am involved with four different businesses, I play music, I do martial arts and I have four kids and a grandchild. It all kind of blurs together. I have to have people tell me what I am supposed to be doing and where I am supposed to be. So I kid you not, when I write checks(yes, I still do that), I often have to ask what the date is including the year.

Hey now! I do know how to write a check! They're just not needed often for the things I do. But holy moly, do you have a lot going on! I thought I was busy, but I don't have nearly that much going on at any given moment. That sounds like a lot of fun, though! What kind of music and instrument(s) do you play?

There are a lot of things I want to do before I take a dirt nap. No time to rest.
As far as the music goes, I collect guitars like people here collect snakes. Mostly les pauls, but I have a few strats PRS's and whatnot. By myself I mostly play blues and zeplin sounding stuff. My band sounds like audioslave meets BB King, weird but it works. Most of my band is your age. They often joke that they are going to start wheeling me into rehearsals. LOL

Not time at all, apparently!
That's really cool. I still want to learn to play guitar, but I find it really frustrating, as I have... basically no musical skill whatsoever. But I do enjoy blues!
Audioslave meets BB King, huh? This is something I have to hear! Also, your band sounds real fun, hahahaha!

You're still a puppy dog! Enjoy it!
I was 34 when I started getting my life in order. Over 5 years later, I'm still playing catch-up! But...betterlate than never.
Appreciate what you have, try not to take a single day for granted, treat others how you wish to be treated and life will be good to you. (I was a slow learner, but I live this way now :D)
Keep doing what you're doing, you're obviously doing something right! :gj:

I know, haha! I am very young still. I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can!
Thanks! That's how I try to live. I'd like to say that is how I live, but it's much more difficult said than done. But whatever it is I'm doing, I'll try to keep at it. Sometimes it feels like I'm just in the right place at the right time, but sometimes I think that's all it takes.

very good advice! w/ their great age comes great wisdom. we sound all listen and be so sage.
;)
also HBD! it's always a good time to celebrate even on a Tuesday night. the good thing i've always found about weekday birthdates is that you you can have two events - a weekend blowout and the actual weekday birthday bash. just have fun, be safe!
i also found out that July 31st are also some neat holidays that can/should also be celebrated. check it out! https://www.checkiday.com/7/31/2017

Very good advice, indeed! I'm taking all of it to heart, and will follow as much of it as I can, as should everyone, I think!
Oh my, my husband is going to enjoy a few of those holidays more than others. ;)
That is true about weekday birthdays! We have spur-of-the-moment-planned on going to a casino this weekend, since I've never been to one. And then Tuesday can be much more chill, haha! :D

Did this with co-workers yesterday actually. I pulled 1998...kind of akward to say "I wasn't even born yet" LOL.

"OLD"??? Pretty sure I have clothes in my closet that are older than you... But as long we're doling out sage advice, take good care of your health...it's
hard to enjoy anything else without that.
Doing what you love in life keeps you young, motivated & going strong, whether it's music, animals, sports or whatever. While I'd love to trade ages with you,
I also love that I can run circles around most of my peers, & around many far younger as well. In fact, it's fun to pass for much younger. Just the opposite of
when you're young & can't wait to be "grown up". :D
Life is never all "up", there's always "up" & "down" times, so don't let the bumps in the road get you down...focus on all the good stuff you have & look forward.
Life isn't "fair" either...others will always have things you'd wish for, but you don't realize what negatives they also cope with.
And for sure stay out of debt! I use credit all the time, but I NEVER pay interest...you want good credit for if/when you really need it, but it's tragic to realize all
the money you wasted if you paid interest.
So, Happy (upcoming) Birthday! :bday::fest::fest2::bounce::cake:

TBH I didn't feel like an adult until I moved out of my parents' place. Adulting takes so much money lol.

Happy late birthday!! Follow all the above advice, lol. But dont worry about feeling young either! It means theres a lot of experience around you, so you can read up on what other people have done and make your own judgements from that. :)

Re: I'm OLD!
You should be proud of yourself.. you have done so much for yourself. And believe me, when you work hard to get what you want in life the rewards are sweet! At 25 yrs old, I was living on my own and barely trying to make ends meet each month. But hey, you have to look back on those times and give yourself a pat on the back because life is what you make it and it's tough out there! It's nice to be blessed each day and have a roof over our heads..as well as have our awesome collection of reptiles and a warm welcome of friends in this community.
As Dav Kraufman would say "Rattle On" snake fans!!! :headbang:
