    Dream NON-SNAKE pet...
I liked the "dream snake" thread that @Skyrivers started and thought it would be cool to hear what some people would like as a "dream pet" outside of snakes. Other herps are welcome.
Tell us what animal(s) you'd love to have as a pet, imagining you had unlimited resources and space to accommodate the animal.

an axolotl, a purple paradox bearded dragon, a sulcata tortoise, dart frogs, too many to name. once i live on my own im gonna get the frogs and axolotl! but the sulcata and bearded dragon are too expensive to keep in the long run for me.

I'd love to be able to accommodate a fennec fox. Definitely a dream-only critter for all the reasons foxes dont make great pets, but if I had the means/time to get around those... who could say no to these adorable little guys??

Of course, I'd also love to have an American Alsatian dog. They're pricey and not quite at their goal for the breed standards yet. They're being developed as a breed of large companion dogs, since most large dogs are working types with high energy, and to look like the extinct dire wolf is thought to have looked. So, selectively breeding from a few base breeds to get the temperament and look they want. [Sounds similar to snake breeding a bit... hmmm. ;) ]
They're even working to out outcross fhe breed enough in development to eliminate most of the issues larger dogs suffer (hip dysplasia and the like)

I'd set up a huge building, like an empty warehouse, as a habitat for flying lizards.

Realistically nothing special but in a few years I just want an Ukrainian Levkoy (when I no longer have dogs I have two and they would not take too kindly having to share me with another critter)

I'd want a tegu or a large monitor lizard, I'd have to do my research on what species is friendliest but I would definitely want a big lizard. Would it be so badass to walk your tegu while everyone else has regular dogs? :P

I wanted to start a wolfdog sanctuary/rescue and educational program for a long time, assuming unlimited resources. Maybe educate on preserving wolves in the wild as well as the ethics of breeding wolfdogs.

    Ok, semi-attainable first and reptiles.

    1. Tegu (don't have the space for one and probably never will).

    2. Rhino Iguana (see above space limitations).

    Unattainable:

    1. White tiger

    2. Great White Shark

    BIG +1 on a B&W Tegu

....but yeah, the burrowing requirements are insane and I don't feel like having 1000lbs of dirt sitting in a cage in my house. I have a male Burmese, and that's PLENTY of enough animal for me at this point.

I love to swim, so while almost all animals are appealing to me, I think an otter would be SO much fun! And of course we'd need a nice big freshwater
pool to play in too.

I know lots of people like birds and keep birds, but my kids are too wild for them. I would love an African grey or a raven. Ravens can learn speech and are thought to be the 2nd smartest animal behind the porpoise.

I've seen some pretty cool creatures shared so far. Thanks for playing along!

    Here's a few of mine:

It would be a long time dream of mine to have a giant cat sanctuary with a leopard and a cheetah (a male African lion and a Bengal tiger would be cool too).

Having a dwarf caiman would be super cool too. They are just so prehistoric and bad to the bone!

For cuteness, I think it would be fun to have a red panda, I mean c'mon, how cute are they???

Lastly, one of the smartest birds on the planet, the simply stunning African pied Crow. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f54c486fe4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ea17fdab23.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dc8472d7e3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dff52c6f27.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...91614c6e7f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2ea9deb0a9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...92d0ed3580.jpg

Oh, and it would be super cool to have a gigantic shark tank with various species....

A hedgehog is on my list of easily obtained wants. Once I move to a state that allows them as pets, I want a spotted skunk.

Attainable but not in the cards right now:
I would love to have a hedgehog. There is just something about them.
    Sugar gliders
a bunny (allergies cannot handle the hay!)

Things I think are amazing but I wouldn't keep as pets:
    marmoset
    desert fox

    Oh man...

So, realistically, but unattainable at the moment would be a horse and a Tamaskan husky (idk where on earth I would find one). They look like wolfdogs, but are the size of huskies with no wolf. So pretty.

Unrealistically, a grey wolf or a flying fox. I've always loved these animals.

My dream dog is a husky. Those eyes kill me! But they run over $2000 for a puppy. So not in the cards for now.

If I ever win the lottery though...

i really, really, really want a big, smart bird, like a raven or parrot. i don't ever see myself having the resources for either of those any time soon, so i just binge-watch youtubers with birds and that's enough for me. :)

    A pig.

I almost wrote down tegu but I know it can happen one day for me (Nothing is impossible without planning and hard work). But a pig is too smart and require so much time and space that it seems only farm living or owning a large acre of land can provide a good home for one. And knowing myself it will remain a dream because I'm a city girl lol.

I've been obsessed with Komodo Dragons since I was 5 years old. Every report I had to write in school was about them, to me they are so fascinating and incredible.

Also, I am generally not a cat person at all (putting it mildly here), but for some strange reason I absolutely adore the Caracal.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ae3a92d78f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a2c191e368.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...7cf624a9ed.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...73c0f56d34.jpg

I have my dream animal which for years was the Argentine b&w tegu. Lives in a large outdoor cage. I now want a red tegu but we will have to see.

I know somebody living near me who has a bunch of coatimundis, kind of like a Soutth American raccoon. They're quite interesting.
