OMG! Thought this would NEVER Happen
Holy Crap! I’ve read about this but never ever thought it would happen to me. I went down to check on my BP and noticed the humidity dropped to 55% which is super low for me! I then found the glass cracked maybe a half inch. Hmmmmm...I then checked the 1st Hide.....no BP. 2nd Hide....no BP. This can’t be?!?! He NEVER moves!!!!
I must of checked each hide 50 mores times and no BP. Well long story short, I searched the whole basement and tore the place apart. Pretty much accepted the fact I was going to find a dead snake months from now. That’s when my wife came downstairs and looked under the couch (where I looked 5 other times) and there was Fred!! All curled up a ball. No telling how long he’d been there. She reached under the couch and grabbed him. Not many wife’s I know of that would of done that ;)
Moral of the story is ‘they’ will escape if given the opportunity. I never would of thought it would be me but it was!!!

OMG! What a scare! So glad you found him!
Close call, but very happy it was resolved quickly and without a lost snake!

Thanks....such a relief! I meant the sliding glass door was cracked open. But barely enough for him to fit through.

I'm not great at all the morphs nowadays .. Is that a Toffino ?
I saw one for a sale recently at a giveaway price of £100 but I deliberated too long :(

Welcome to the club. I have had 2 escapees this past year and both were totally my fought. Happy you found him. Now I check everyone in the morning before I leave for work and every night before I go to bed. Roll call! Temp checks! etc.

yes, you are correct. It's a Toffino (some might say a Candino). He's been really holding his color well and I've heard they continue to show their vibrant colors as they mature.

Beautiful snakey! I am mega paranoid of my snake escaping... especially because I have a cat. I'm ever so glad he was found quickly without you having to dump flour all over the floor and follow his tracks.

Re: OMG! Thought this would NEVER Happen
I had an escapee once. A young snake less than 300 gms. I tore the house apart and couldn't find her. After a few days I figured it was a dead snake, as it was winter and the temp in my house near the floor was in the low sixties.
After a few weeks I ordered a replacement for her from a breeder. As luck would have it, a few nights later I found her when I got up to go to the bathroom, slithering across the kitchen floor.
(I thus ended up with two females of the same morph)
The interesting thing about this is that I measured her temperature with my heat gun. It was 90 degrees! The only accessible heat source in my house would have been somewhere in internal mechanism of the refrigerator near the heat pump. She was living in there and doing fine, probably caught one or two of the mice that invade my place. These little guys are resourceful!

Resourceful survivors yes, but they can also get killed by refrigerator motors etc. so it's not something you ever want to put your pet to the test on. So glad yours
was OK though. :)
