Another Big Night.
I'm not sure what has change, but my girl, Jewel is really coming around.
She's 5 years old and has taken a renewed interest in feeding.
Here comes the growth!
She has been so on and off in the past that F/T wasn't always an option. I have had to feed live at times, but tonight, she blasted the F/T large rat and this is her 3rd meal in a short amount of time.

She seems to be competing for the attention the retic has gained.

FYI, the second photo is more true. The enhanced first picture makes her look a lot more yellow. She isn't yellow at all.

I believe that congratulations are in order! :gj:

Its unreal!!
She's postured up again, like the retic looking for another meal.
Personalities change in people, I guess she's a snake that finally enjoys eating.
We'll see who ends up my longest snake by next summer. Wallace is slowing and Jewel seems to be just kicking into another gear.
same but different:

Re: Another Big Night.
Way to go Jewel! Glad to see she's still eating well Gio.

Good to hear Gio! There is nothing more frustrating than one of our snakes not wanting to feed. Then we start questioning our abilities, our temps, humidity, etc.

I love this snake!
It's taken her 4 years to become the eater I wanted from the beginning, but now she's ALWAYS looking for food.
I may actually end up with a pretty darn large coastie!!
I do give her some credit for getting me into the smaller retics though.
I was not happy with her eating style for a long time and felt the need for something equal to what my boa was giving me along the lines of feeding.
Now I have 3 snakes that hit it hard, and of course,,,,,, the royal python, which is truly a pet rock. A good pet rock though!!

Re: Another Big Night.
@ Gio- I think I saw him post a couple of weeks ago but he has been pretty quiet lately. Let's put out a BOLO.
What's good Reinz? You ok brother? We're thinking about you.

She just keeps going!
I've waited four years for this to happen. When I picked her up in 2104, I was expecting and hoping for a coastal carpet that would get very large and eat like my boa.
Things certainly didn't start off that way though. Hunger strikes, refusals, and strange eating habits. She did get relatively large though, at least in length. She's a seven footer plus these days, and now seems to be bulking up a bit and adding even more length.
Now, I am able to feed her weekly. I typically don't practice weekly or even 10 day feeds with any of the snakes here, but when one that hasn't eaten a lot over the years lets it rip, it seems I should go with it until I see fit.
No new pictures so here's an older one.
Already thicker and a touch longer than this.

Re: Another Big Night.
Sounds like she's in the zone. Better late than never right? Might as well take advantage of the growth spurt. I'm sure you won't let her get too chunky. ;)

No,,,,
We'll keep her lean and mean. Its funny, I want her very big, and the retic, I wish he'd stop growing. I fed them both last night. The royal refused F/T as usual and I am letting the boa ride a bit.
Off to Boston we go, so they will have to be content for a while.
