Suggestions on AP Stands / Cabinets
Anyone have some good suggestions on a stand or cabinet to place an AP T10 (or any sizable enclosure) on top of? I've searched this site and coming up empty. I'd like something that was somewhat visually appealing rather then a table from a hardware store. It's been a little hard finding something to support a cage 23-24 inches deep. Seems like the standard size is 16.4 inches. Thanks!

Mine from my pictures in the previous post came from Ikea. It's actually an entertainment center.

Since its all modular you have a lot of options in color and drawers or doors, shelves etc. I had to buy two of the main units because the t10 is so deep and just stacked them together then put doors on the front. The t10 still hangs over about 1/2 inch on each side and there is about 3 inches of extra space in front and back of the t10. I left one open shelf that would normally be for AV components and that's where I put the Herpstat along with my xbox and DVD player since it sits under the tv hanging on the wall of our bedroom.

It's not the exact size but I think it looks great and gives cabinets to store stuff in. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a803cdc016.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...82969f706c.jpg

I use restaurant wire shelves on casters so I can get behind the cages easily when necessary. Webstauraunt.com has 4’x2’ shelves in a few different colors. I used all black when I only had the two T8s set up. Had to go chrome for 72”x30” when I set up my T25 because I couldn’t find any other color

This is what I'll be using for my T-10 when I get one. It's an entertainment center that someone in my apartment complex left by the dumpster. The top is too narrow, but The Container Store has a melamine desk top that I'll just use to replace this one. I can put my Herpstat on one of the shelves, and my scale, extra tub, and hair dryer in the cabinet.

Thrift stores and garage sales can be your friend if you can find a bench, table, or entertainment center of the right dimensions. Probably the least expensive route, if you get lucky.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6a9f2d3a61.jpg

I love the look of that stand. The url you listed is no longer functional. I believe that this is their new url: https://www.webstaurantstore.com/shelving.html

I do have a membership to Costco and I'm assuming you are referring to this one. Super nice but the depth is only 19 inches and the AP cage is around 23.

We have both a 4x2 coffee table (screenshot below) and an industrial shelving unit. I like the looks of the coffee table better, and once we switch to PVC we'll probably use that over the shelves - unless we can get the PVC to fit within the shelving brackets, lol.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...89348400e4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...785581355b.jpg

Shoot, I linked to the wrong coffee table, but the one we ordered is similar, just a bit wider and longer.

This is what we actually ordered. It's a bit pricey (we paid $170 but it's currently listed at ~$208), but if I'm remembering right, Wayfair has a ton of tables with perfect 48"x24" dimensions. We just received our 4x2 BoaMaster about a week ago, and it fits perfectly on this table.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...980066f704.jpg

I started out thinking I was just going to have 1 snake (silly I know) and just used the wire racks.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...128_154603.jpg

After realizing I just couldn't have 1 snake I made my own for the current T10 stack. However with a 5th on order, I'm going to have to knock it down to almost floor level.

    https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/fil...8/t10stack.jpg

I got REALLY lucky with this craigslist find for my T12 - of which I'm going to stack a 2nd T12 on it. Probably gonna have to knock it down once I get the third T12...oh well...Still a nice cabinet for free.

    This looks great!
    3 questions for you...
    1. Does the cage sit on top of the posts as well as the shelf (is it 4'x2' including where the posts are)?
    2. What height posts are you using?
    3. Do you think the wire shelves would pose a problem when using heat tape on the bottom of the cage?

I've been looking for a solution to put my two stacks of AP cages on casters and this might just be the ticket. From their description, it sounds like these would hold enough weight for a stack of cages.

You can look into fish tank stand, that's what I use for my AP cage. Strong and sturdy since they are supposed to hold heavy aquarium and gives a nice height.

It's not super visually appealing, but I use a folding thick plastic and metal table (like a long heavy duty card table) that I found at a yard sale. I just bought a nice table cloth and put that over the table / under the cage and let it hang down almost to the floor when we have company. Other than that I use all the space under the table for supplies and storage.

I found this shelving set from HomeDepot to be very nice. Gives the ability to store things below and choose the height of your cage or stack of cages as long as you dont mind the bars up the sides. (If you mind, you can still use it at around 2.5 or 3 feet as the base height where the top of the first set of vertical bars falls around there.)

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/Edsal-72...5WGB/202067997

Don't mind the mess. This is 3 AP T8s (not occupied yet). They fit perfectly between the bars as long as you set them down from the top. (Can't be slid in from the front, but it will prevent sliding off the shelf once it's set up as a handy benefit.)
    https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d0a57ddf55.jpg

That's only half the shelf set up. I'm planning to put the other half next to it for some other cages. I'm seeing it right now for $85, and you can essentially get 2 stands out of it.

    1. Yes, 4x2 includes the posts
    2. These are 14” tall posts but the casters add about another 6”
    3. Not necessarily. I have three long boards 1”x6”x72” acting as risers under this cage because the posts extended slightly above the height of the shelf, leaving a gap between the bottom of the cage and the shelf top. Otherwise the center of the cage isn’t directly supported and could possibly sag. I just painted them matte black so they match the cages. Ideally I’d use a sheet of plywood so there’s full contact along the entire bottom of the cage which would also ensure the heat tape was in full contact with the bottom of the cage

And yes, they’ll hold a ton of weight. I’ve currently got two T8s and a T25 on this rack/cart/shelf with zero issues. Large casters roll easily on carpet as well

Well after weeks of searching for the perfect size to fit my AP T10....I decided that it was best to reach out and have someone build a custom table. It turned out beautiful and was a lot cheaper than most of the tables I saw online. It’s 48 x 24 x 36.

Wow that's gorgeous!!! I never even thought about seeking someone to make a custom table before! I may go this route now! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost? Local company?

Thank you! I can’t remember if I found them (local person) on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist but it was only $200. I was having the hardest time finding tables with the measurements of an AP enclosure. Good luck!

We made these for about $50 each. They are made from 2x4 and 2x6 for the tops but you could jus as easily use a solid tophttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...97f7311884.jpg

I also have a larger one my 4x2x2 wooden Viv for my beardie is on but it’s hard to get a decent pic because of placement. I ran a piece of plywood over the bottom shelf for Astrid’s tub. You can see it in the first picture.
This is my beardie’s enclosure. We made it too.
