What are the genes in ____?
Is there a source out there that has a list of all the morphs and their "ingredients"? (i.e. Bumblebee=Spider x pastel)

With all these folks creating names for their combos, it's difficult for a morph-newbie to really know the genetics involved.

I believe it just gets updated as breeders create new combos and submit photos and combo info to them. So say I made a worlds first, I would take some pictures and send them to them with what the new combo is. I’m not sure how they approve or verify but I’m guessing it’s based on the word of the breeder.

u can also type in a morph name into the Morph Market search bar for Ball Pythons and it will separate out the genes for u. here i ran a search for Pewter and it the genes that make that combo are Cinnamon and Pastel:

A breeder I know says Black Pastel and Pastel also make Pewter. I picked up a “Black Pewter Pastel Bee” from him and he said genetics are Pastel, Black Pastel and Spider. What are the thoughts on this? Just trying to learn all I can about these types of things. Would that make it a Black Pewter as he says?

Cinnamon and Black Pastel are very similar morphs and combos of those with other morphs are also generally similar (nice thread about them here: https://ball-pythons.net/forums/show...S-Black-Pastel )

    Cinnamon x Pastel = Pewter
Black Pastel x pastel = Black Pewter
The name difference is to show which gene was used.

For your Black Pewter Pastel Bee, the pastel is not necessary since it being a black pewter already means there is pastel in the mix, personally I'd call it a Black Pewter Bee
a "bee" refers to Bumblebee which is a combo of pastel and spider.

    I hope that helps!

Unless it's a honey bee, or butter bee, which are ghost spiders and butter spiders respectively.
Black bees are black pastel spiders.
Im pretty sure those are the only bees that aren't pastel spiders. [emoji848]

Sorry for any confusion, I specifically chose bumblebee since the snake in questions was pastel and spider combo.
Why bee and not just spider? Why not some other type of spider, why a 'bee'?
BP names can be so silly.
Technically his snake would be a black pastel, pastel, spider, correct?
    :)

i dunno, what if it's actually a Silverstreak Spider/Bee lol.

Spechal is seems to be still learning a bunch and building a collection. so far sig list his collection at:
    Quote:

1.0 - Albino Pastel Black Pastel Pinstripe1.0 - Albino Candy
    1.0 - Super Pastel Butter
0.1 - Orange Dream Pastel Spider
    0.1 - Pied
0.1 - Pastel Black Pastel Spider
    0.0.1 - Orange Dream Pinstripe
    0.0.1 - (Phantom/Mystic) YB + Spark? -- TBD after breeding
    0.0.1 - Jungle
    0.1 - Red Tail Boa
maybe he can post pix for morph ID on a few more of his animals. i would be interested in seeing the Albino Pastel Black Pastel Pinstripe myself.

Getting dark out and house lights don’t do justice, but I will try to post them all up in another thread.

Thanks for all the input guys! Love the discussion.

How would someone name a world's first? What if the combo already exists?

alotta peeps used to accept that getting your world's first onto WOBP w/ pix and a name u chose as being official. so take lotsa pix, give it a name and send it to WOBP. however i also know that they don't have all of the morphs and new genes on there and sometimes they simply reject/do not accept some. social media like Instagram, Facebook and Youtube is also very popular w/ breeders and i've noticed them posting more of their new stuff on there b/c of the popularity of the platform, it's ease of use and speed at dissemination of news, info and pix.

i don't think u can re-name or stake an ownership claim in a combo that already exists. some else beat u to it and gets that right. however, keep in mind that not all new combo's are named. for example, the Banana Mojo was never named in my research. however, casually i sometimes call it by the unofficial name i gave that combo myself - Banjo. ;)
