For the life of me I cannot hear Yanny and it’s super weird. Out of my friends and husband I’m the only one that hears Laura and it was creepy listening to the same sound file with my husband and him chuckling going “clearly yanny” and me realizing I’m the only one hearing a deep pitched male voice saying Laura.

There has been other sound clips where pitches and bass shift and others hear both switching back and forth, apparently my husband heard the switch but I could not. Makes me wonder if there is actually something wrong with my hearing o_o

I played it for a friend at work who has perfect pitch and he hears both words equally and simultaneously. Totally weird.

Someone played it in a meeting today. After hearing it half a dozen times the vote was unanimous:
    JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!

Whoa that is weird but very interesting! Sound is just one of those things you don’t really think about being perceived differently by other people so haha what an eye opener!

I told him he was a witch and I didn't want to be his friend anymore. It's Yanny.

What if what I see as the colour red may be seen as 'my' blue through your eyes. But we would never know what other people see because we've all been told since birth that the colour we see is referred to as red. I've often wondered that.

How would you ever know what someone else *physically* sees though? That's like saying you can feel the exact same sensation. You can only ever relate what you experience to someone else. You would agree on the name of the colour because we all see the same part of the electromagnetic spectrum (even that may not be the case). But the way your eyes and brain physically receive and actually process that information could be completely different to someone else.

So if you could see through my eyes and my brain what you actually see may be completely different to what you see in your own body. My green might be your purple but we know those colours by name so will refer to them as the same name.

Ha ha do you see what I mean? There are people who are colour blind and that can be measured. But what if everyone physically sees colours differently but just don't know it because there's currently no way to measure it?

I heard yanny for the first half day i listened to it and couldn't hear Laurel for the life of me! And then I listened to one of those pitch changes someone did that suddenly allowed me to hear what the Laurel sounds like, and I started hearing Laurel in the original too. AAHH

And now I hear either Yanny or Laurel randomly switching and it's not by choice!!

YES! Now I'm freaking out because all I hear this afternoon is Laurel when all I heard this morning was Yanny. GAH!!!

I started it, and all I heard at first was Laurel, until I started listening a bit harder. I can hear both at the same time when I focus, but if it was a cursory, passing thing I probably would have only heard Laurel and moved on lol.

So it is supposed to be Laurel. Some kids were studying for an exam and were using this site to get proper pronunciation when one of them heard Yanny instead of Laurel. Then it went to Reddit.

I don't know about perfect pitch, but I can also hear them simultaneously. I hear Laurel most, but I can concentrate and here Yanni, or both. I wonder if it's like refocusing a part of your brain - like looking at a fan blade and seeing it turn in counterclockwise when it's clearly turning clockwise?

Laurel clear as day to me, no yanni even if I try to hear it. My hearing is pretty bad tho.

Also have bad hearing. All I heard is Yanni, clear as day.
BF says all he hears is Laurel.

When I clicked on the news clip linked on the first post and the sound played... I heard Laurel. Very deep voice. When I heard Yanni last night over and over, very high pitched voice (from a different link to just the sound, no news clip). Must be the speakers vs headsets and pcs being used changing my perception. Interesting... makes me feel more insane than I normally do.
