Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?
I loooove sushi!!
Ohhhh y’all thought I meant the raw fish pieced and rolled together to look all pretty and colorful and yummy....??
No, no, no... I meant Sushi... my new make Dumerils Boa!!!
I’m supposed to be on probation... I guess this means I’m headed back to the slammer or suspended...? When I laid eyes on this guy I just needed him.
Like most, this terrible awful gateway site lead me to this gorgeous species. I was hooked on boas the moment I got my hands on my caye caulker and knew I needed another. Then one thread here lead to another and to another then to the care sheets and of course... the dreaded MORPHMARKET!!!
As I was researching general care and info a link came up to this guy and well...
I don’t know about others but it seemed like there weren’t many offerings and I heard the stories of younger specimens who were troubled eaters. I found this guy who is 1.5-2 well started, healthy and well the colors are just amazing. I wanted one that was pink, red and orange and he packs one heck of a rainbow punch. Sweet as could be and just one cool customer.
So... say hello to my boy SUSHI!!!

I've got some hot leads if and when the time comes. Just sayin :D

Aw congrats!! I love my dumeril's!
If you provide thick substrate, you'll observe some interesting burrowing behavior. They like to burrow their bodies very deep and then leave only the tip of their nose poking out. LOL

Re: Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?
Very nice Phil... How many snakes is that now? :P

Re: Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?

I greatly appreciate your help and advice as well!!
i poked prodded and spoke to many of the great members here in the last few months as I narrowed in.
Its awesome being able to reach out people and have nice intelligent conversations and really pick the minds of those who keep what you are after.

That would be 6... and I am not looking at your screen name and getting any ideas!!!
6 snakes and one crested gecko to be exact. So 7 reptiles total...
off to suspension i go. Time for a niiiiice long break and I mean it.
I think ... I hope... I can do it!! Haha
nah seriously I have my reasons and I’m a weirdo when it comes to numbers and balance and all this nonsense, some reasons I’d rather not explain. However they are loved and cared for and that’s all that matters.

Thank you thank you!!
i don’t know why.. sushi just sort of stuck.
To me he looks like this big lovely display of it. The pinks the oranges and the flowery look. Like some boojie Asian fusian restaurant that has the model come lay on the table covered in the finest rolls and the ginger is carved into little flowers all over...
not like i have ever done something like that ;) no no never!

Another TEAM DUM member !!
REPRESENT!!!
thanks so much for the kind words and your help as well!!
yea he is a big healthy boy. Was 735 g when I unbagged and I’d say at least 3 feet!
i was so torn between going the hatchling route and him.
The hatchling prospects i had were meek and the my baby dum wont eat stories were needling me. Once I saw him I think I knew right away where my heart was.

Re: Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?
Anytime! I think that’s the way to pick em...your gut always knows! I also think you made a smart choice getting a well-started animal.
Case in point, Sushi and Nagini are roughly the same age. He’s over 700 grams? She weighed in at 232 last week. Her body condition is great, but she’s just little! I assume it’s just a result of only eating once a month for a year [emoji849]
You’re gonna love this guy.

Yea he was 730 maybe even bigger he was like half hanging of my scale w his big arse!! I need a bigger dish for the top with him in the collection!!
he was born sometime in 2016 I don’t have a date yet. The guy I got him from wasn’t the most ummm chummy to put it lightly. But whatever I got a nice snake I don’t need a friendship but that’s beside the point.
I acrually went male because I have seen some HUGE females. However there have been some big males noted so we shall see. He’s a big chunky boy. See how he does with food in a week or so after he settles

Re: Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?
He’s a handsome boy you’ve got there ! My Dumerils (whose name is Champ) is my favorite snake. Sushi is at the age , in my opinion, when they really start developing into a true pet.

Care to expand on that more? Do you mean their personality really shines and you feel like they just become more open??
champ!! Great name. Are there pics of him on here ??

Re: Who here loves them some SUSHI...?!?
In my experience with Champ, that while he was confident as baby, when he hit around the 3 year-3ft mark he really blossomed. He stopped burying so much and was more apt to be seen laying stretched out in the open or on top of his hides. At the the current age of 4 yrs he is always up for coming out to be handled or explore the house and yard.(under close supervision of course). He is a very slow and deliberate moving snake. IMHO Dums are excellent candidates to be tap trained due to being almost exclusively ambush predators. I don’t have any really decent pics of him but here’s one from a few days ago out in the backyard https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0850307bc8.jpg

thia totally sounds spot on. I can’t relate to having him as a baby but the way he is now he seems very brazen and on display he’s chill and relaxed but he’s got his tukus in his hide with half himself hanging out. In the evening he takes a few laps around and climbs some branches. Very cool indeed .
Yours is beautiful!!!

Its funny you say that because I feel like my girl is in the transition phase. She almost 2 and doesn’t bury herself nearly as much and seems to greet me at the cage door as to say ok dad let me out already.
