i spoke to their rep. he said it took them 3years of development and before production costs went down for them to bring t-stats to market. they exceeded their sales by 10 times their projections. i'm glad there are options out there and good for them!

Most of the hots had a sign saying "venomoid". So did they all have their fangs surgically removed?

Not a fan of this :( Hope they just meant to say "venomous".

Great pics though, I haven't been to an expo in far to long !!! I'm afraid I'd have to bring a hand wagon to haul everything I would buy along with me, LMAO !!

good eye. not the fangs but the venom glands were surgically removed. so if they bite, they can still leave a nice wound. he had some scars to show. in fact, the keeper was tagged by an Albino Monocle Cobra. as he told it, Cobras don't have retractable fangs like vipers (i.e. Rattlers) so their fangs are fixed and gunk from whatever they bite (i.e. rodents) can get stuck in the venom canal (and rot). well when he was bitten, instead of being injected w/ venom, he was injected w/ that gunk that caused his hand and arm to swell to pre-gangrene stages. he still uses a hook to handle them.

yes, u should go to a show, takes lotsa pix and bring a wagon. :)

Sorry, that is what I meant, although I used to think it was both fangs and venom glands that were removed.

Still not a fan, though. I've heard of people doing this surgery as a home job, heard of botched surgeries, glands growing back, infections, etc.

Not to mention that these snakes use the venom to start pre-digestion on their prey.

Just not a fan of modifying animals to fit our lifestyle. Esp. by taking away an animals defense. Such as de-clawed lions, or big cats with teeth and claws removed, etc.

But ENOUGH about that, LOL. Didn't mean to derail your thread.

The pictures are awesome. Love the plants !!

And the copper head is very unique. They are always beautiful but never seen one this color before! I have to say, that's my favorite !

It was still fun. I got my new (used) tank from the venom snake guy for Odyn. Not sure I would go again next year as there were half as many vendors as there was last year. I will go to the Puyallup one and hope more vendors are there. Oh ax did you see they were charging to hold the tarantula! I was like wth! They didn't charge at the last show.

In my early 20's I owned a venomoid western diamondback (not something I currently support) that I purchased from venomoid inc. It came with a paper showing when and who did the surgery. Also said to treat it like you would any hot, never free-handle and use a hook.
He was the meanest snake I ever owned lol.
I actually donated him to the Serpentarium in Monroe when I moved out of state, I need to go by there when i'm up to WA again and see how hes doing.

yeah, the expo's are now always like 1 county over. Monroe in Snohomish County in the Spring and Puyallup in Pierce County in the Fall. they had one in an actual suburb - Renton - but that was like 4 years ago and they haven't been back near the city since.

really?! that's awesome. the Serpentarium/Reptile Zoo is pretty cool and the Fer De Lance and Pit Viper above are from there. i'm sure your Rattler probably made it out to a past show.

well it's kinda like the same to enter the petting zoo. but in normal circumstances, u can just say hey, i think i wanna buy that animal. can i hold it and check it out? see that's how u get to touch it for free.

i was surprised that Doug and Bobbie (of HDI Reptiles/Reptile Snack Shack) didn't have alotta animals. they're one of the bigger local breeders. i guess it's just a slow season.

    :(

it's actually in January 2019! looks like they swapped dates w/ the former PDX show which was moved an hour south.
    https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/yv7sTuO.png

i was gonna plan to go to the Summer PDX 1-day show on August 18th so we can spend the summer weekend there and see some cool animals. but there should be more cool babies in October so that's why i look forward to the Puyallup show in the Fall. i might switch it up but i don't want to stay in the middle of nowheresville Albany, OR. :confusd: whatever i gotta few months to figure it out.
