A pretty good article...

I thought this was a pretty good article, worth sharing. So many stories like these exaggerate the size of the snakes, paint them in a vicious light and are often times wildly inaccurate. They are often times misleading and can scare the general population into believing the animals are far bigger and more dangerous than they really are. This particular write up doesn't do that. Plus one for the good guys!!

I agree Craig. It was a fair and informative article. It doesn't say much about the errors of the keeper though which is still a poor refection on our hobby. Escaped exotic pets cast a negative shadow on the rest of us.

I wonder if it was Brooklyn ma or ny ? If so I wonder if anyone has adopted the Lil guy . I’ll take him if not . I have another spot on my pvc buildout I finished earlier this year !

If you're serious, get in touch with them quickly, as most animals shelters aren't geared for reptiles & can't wait to get them off their hands.

With how little bps seem to really want to move around when they escape, i find it kind of a sad realization that it was probably abandoned by its owner, especially if its in NY.

At least the article was informative, and didn't try to overdo anything. Couldn't help but chuckle at the moody teenager comparison.

That was my thought too...that it was deliberately abandoned where kids would find it & take it home. Pretty lousy thing to do, dumping pets of any kind. :tears:
It's SO easy to make a connection to someone who is willing & has the means to take it in, without resorting to abandonment. And yes, it reflects poorly on
reptile keepers, already stereo-typed more than dog & cat owners, who show vastly more irresponsibility overall than do reptile keepers.

You can tell was written by someone who has some level of understanding of BPs and wanted to present it in as good of light as possible. So many people buying them, no reason to abandon them for sure.

It was in the Comm. Ave section of Boston...

I agree that it doesn't cover the keeper or escape part of the story, and in turn still casts a shadow on the hobby. I hadn't thought of that.

Yes the article wasn’t too bad , it did make me laugh when they mentioned being a carnivorous species(like there was plenty of vegetarian options)

I like how accurate the writer was when they said it was non-poisonous. They must be well educated on Rhabdophis tigrinus to draw that distinction... I hope [emoji23]

I called up and left a message with animal control saying that I will take him/her for the time being until I find a good home . I made it clear they need specific husbandry . So ima head home and make sure I have my quarantine tank set up ready to rock and roll . Hopefully the little dude finds a good home

I like how they likened ball pythons to "moody teens who want to hang out in their rooms a lot but remain lovable and kind-hearted". Having both teenagers and a ball python, I find this description very accurate.

lol that's the best analogy ever! i love this writer and love how she ends the article by referring to the BP as a "reptile friend" and felt teh aritcle was 1 paragraph from referring to it as a booper snoot.

So I got a call back saying he was In Someone else’s custody and if there were any changes they would let me know
