    by the Morelia bug...
Which do you guys recommend? Jungle, Coastal or Bredli? I also like Jaguars, but their neurological disorder puts me off.
    Any advice? Thanks in advance.

    Great bug!

    I recommend BOTH!

You will end up with another, but my personal choice would be a locality Brisbane Coastal from Nick Mutton OR one of the members here who has a gravid female!

The coastals tend to be a little more arboreal than the Bredli but they are both quite arboreal. Bredli are close to bullet proof when it comes to husbandry.
Bredli are heavy bodied, and beautiful.

The Brisbane coastals are the largest of the carpets and they are beautiful.

    I wish I had a Brisbane, and I wish I had a Bredli.

I have a coastal mix (mutt) of some type and she's awesome.

She's a 7 foot animal and is probably the most pleasant snake we have here.

I'm not 100% certain of her makeup. I know her mother was 10 feet, and father was 8 feet.

I think Jewel is pretty well toped off now.

I love the carpet group and would like another!

Love Morelia! Do yourself a favor and listen to the Morelia Python Radio podcasts, I've learned a ton and those guys are a hoot.

I don't have any, so can't advise directly. But I love to learn about them and hope to have a Boelens one day (though I think they were kicked out of Morelia and are considered Simalia now...they still seem like Morelia to me ).

I completely agree with, Gio. Anyone who loves snakes will love having anything Morelia.

I picked up my Bredli from Nick Mutton, Inland Reptile. He was great to deal with and a wealth of knowledge. I still go on his website to see what’s available and always want one of each.

As Gio said, if you go Coastal, the southern Brisbane locality is something special and will give you your largest Morelia. I was very, very close to choosing one from Nick instead of my Bredli. Hard choice, both great.

Completely different than my BPs. He prefers to stretch out and hang on any of the structure in his tub.

Thanks Gio, your Morelia is stunning!!

Rock, it was actually your thread "This is my Bredli. There are many like it"; that made me want a Morelia... thank you.

I have a few different Morelia (jungles, coastal, albino and Bredli). I was originally drawn to jungles but now coastals are my favorite by far. Thanks Reinz :). I love the jags too but can't get past the neuro thing.

You can't go wrong with any of them really. Although I'd say a pure Diamond is not a bigger carpet. Other than that have at it.

    Rock's Bredli is sensational!

3 incredible choices. I'll be honest, I've had my eye on the female Coastal and I really dig his Palmerston locality Jungles and how they look as adults.

If you haven't done it already, look at the Lineage page to see the adults for each one. The Brisbane is BRS2. Look at the gorgeous colors on the female adult mother!

In my opinion, it comes down to size, temperament and your choice of what looks good to you.

Edit: Side note, if you call up Nick you might find he has a few hold back Bredli's he is willing to sell now. He does that sometimes.

Ricky, that's great to read. I'm going to get my guy out of the tub this weekend to post some pics of him enjoying the outdoors. I always enjoy Gio's pics of Jewel as well!

The jungle is nice but the Brisbane and the Palmerston both take the cake.

I'd probably take the Briz though. I like larger carpets.

Alright, just got home from work:

Thanks guys! I'm also like that Brisbane a lot :gj:

Question, do females get bigger than males? I want the longest Morelia. I went male with my ball python and boa because I wanted smaller specimens. But not with my Morelia, I want her big! :D

Edit: Forgot to ask, temperament would be the same between Jungle and Brisbane, right?

I sent Nick Mutton an email with some questions, now is time to wait to hear from him.

Way the way I extended my choices to males and found 2 boys I like also:

    Brisbane Coastal Male:

    Striped Bredli:

Do you guys know if Bredlis get as big as Brisbane coastals?

Yes, female carpets have the potential to be bigger. Coastals are going to give you the edge on length and the Brisbane locality is know to be the longest of the Coastals.

Temperament for handling, from all that I’ve read and heard first-hand, is likely going to favor the Brisbane as far as handling. Many people have jungles they enjoy handling so a lot will come down to the individual snake.

Two truly great choices. A Bredli should not get as big a a Brisbane Coastal. A Bredli is a 2- 3 meter snake which can be impressive as they tend to be solid, heavy-bodied snakes but the Brisbane is more of a 3M animal. If you are looking to get a true 10 foot or 10+ Carpet the Brisbane is your best bet.

    Thank you Rock.

I can't wait to hear from Nick. I did ask him if he had any Bredli left, because I really like Alpha. He does have Hypos and Stonewashed but they are $1300, I can't do that price when a regular Bredli is just as beautiful.

I had a great experience dealing with Nick and at the time I was like you, thinking about a few different types of Morelia and a few different snakes of his.

At the time I picked up Alpha, Hypos were at $1500. If I were to go that route, I think he has the best with the HYPO x HYPO offspring. They are beautiful but as I mentioned before, I was really looking for something at the time that was as close to a wild representation as I could find.

That being said, Alpha is het stonewashed so I could technically have a chance of expressing that if he ever bred with another stonewash.

Bottomline, I think Nick does the best job I’ve seen of currently available Bredli, Brisbane and Palmerston locality Jungles. Plus his Super Caramels are awesome. You can do some further reading on the established Bredli lines he uses: Affors, Harris, Price, Lazik, Stark. They all have subtle differences and it’s cool to track the lineage if you are interested.

If you don't find exactly what you're looking for on his availability page (as unlikely as that sounds), he's already had a crazy fruitful year. I think his girls have dropped like 15 clutches or something so far this year. So he'll have even more amazing animals in a few months!

Sorry I missed this. I didn't get one at the time... I decided I really wanted a Bredli and Nick only had Hypo's and Stonewashed's at the time. But now he has more Bredli and I sent him an email on getting one of them. We'll see what happens
