Daily Habit, concern or personality?
Ive noticed for quite a while that our female spider "Miracle" lays with her head out of her hide throughout the day. She's also awake off and on through the day, i see her tracking when i check her gauges.
As far as I know she's a happy girl, she eats well and regular, she never strikes or shows any sort of nervousness, she doesn't pace or move about during the day, she just lays there watching. I have good temp gradients, 95 basking, 88 air hot side, 77-78 cool side. Humidity is 50-60 but requires daily upkeep.
I feed her an adult mouse every 5-7 days, she will eat live or f/t. I intend to switch to appropriate sized rats they just didnt have any the last 2 feedings. I cant think of anything else that may be a negative factor, and again as far as all other behaviors she is happy and sweet.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...806c1e2980.jpg

95° F is a bit hot. i wouldn't go over 92° F.
my Piebald male is the same; probably just waiting for a mouse to scurry by.

I think this is their hunting technique in the wild. (-ambush) When I see my snakes (all kinds) peeking out of their hides, it's generally because they're on "munchie-patrol".
I think it's a perfectly healthy indication. I worry when they don't do this.

Mine does this periodically during the day, but mostly only in the morning or early evening I think. He also is laying out all evening. Pretty sure he's just comfy and likes to see what's up. It's not an issue. It is, however, very cute.

My girl does that too, it's super adorable. She will actually push some dry sphagnum moss to block the entrance of the hide during the day, and move it away to peep her head out in the evening/night. Then in the morning the opening is blocked with moss again I thought it was just a coincidence, but after a few weeks I see that she is doing it intentionally which kind of astounded me

Everything you described is so normal that I wasn't sure what part you're asking about until I read the comments! LOL

I call it - assuming the turtle position. Mine is like this 95% of the time.

The hide on the other side of her tank is one of the half log hides, I sealed off the back side with moss, she seems content with it and does use it occasionally, and it is positioned off the glass so she can effectively climb over it.

Mine does that a lot of the time. She likes to stick her head out or use the classic position I like to call "Head to Tail U-turn".

I'd honestly put two or three branches in there . Royals WILL climb in the evenings if there is something in there to clamber over .
I get them from local parks and woods

I call her a turtle when mine does that. Haha. She likes to prop her head up on the water dish too.
