    He escaped! Please help!
I feel horrible typing this. I got home from school today to find Dean's tank lid pushed to the side and that he was gone. The room he was in has tons of hding spots. The room is also warm, around 75+ degrees at times. I know he can go quiet a while without food since he just ate on Thursday.

    keep calm.

keep your search close to the enclosure; i've never had an escaped ball python go more than 10ft, and usually less.

be as thorough as you possibly can, and only move on from one area to the next once you are 100% certain the snake is not there.

even if you see a spot and think there's no way he's in there, guess what? he'll likely be there.

Thank you! He hasn't been out long as he was in his tank this morning.

Snakes LOVE to play hide 'n seek, & they're better than we are at it. Be careful that you don't move things in a way that could hurt him if he's underneath...
I've heard of snakes slithering between a mattress & box-springs, and they seem magnetically drawn to couch cushions, so check before you sit down.

He's probably in the same room, so if you can close it off so he can't get under the door, etc, that should help you. Think like a snake, & you'll find him. :please:

Turns out Dean had crawled into the broken heater right behind his tank, less than a foot away! I'm so relieved,https://ball-pythons.net/gallery/sho...hp?i=57663&c=3 the little bugger was all snuggled up inside there and I had to take it apart to get him out.

Happy Dance! :carrot::banana::carrot::banana: I'm so glad you found him quickly & still safe...now make sure he can't get out again. It's not always a good ending.

always keep the search area close! they're not big explorers like other species; they just want to hide. i'm so happy you found him, and i hope i was able to help some. [emoji4]

    darn you, Dean! [emoji12]

EDIT: your pics aren't showing on Tapatalk.

I had an escapee once. Miss Snow my supper fire. She is all white but blends in well in tight dark places. Happy you found him. It took me 3.5 hours to find her. :taz::D

My normal was an escape artist before we switched him to a tub. He was missing 3 days before we found him in the top of my daughters closet chilling on a tote box. Whenever he got loose after that we always checked her room first. She has pet rats and nearly every time he would be next to the dresser where the cage was or sitting on top of it eyeballing the buffet that was just out of his reach lol.
