First produced clutch has pipped!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e011c87be7.jpg
Yesterday morning my first produced clutch is starting to pip. I cut them on day 52 and on day 55 the first nose was out. I’m hoping more will be out when I get home this morning. More pictures to come as they decide to venture out, hopefully in a few hours when I get home. This is from a coral glow to enchi. There are 4 CGs out of 5 eggs with one that appeared to be a CG enchi. The others I couldn’t quite tell. And the one non-CG I couldn’t tell if it was a normal or enchi. I just cut a little flap to not disturb them too much. Just enough to see the animal and make for an easy escape, but not enough for identification. I’ve hatched one clutch for a friend last year but this will be my first from my animals.

There is nothing more exciting then when your first clutch hatches. Congratulations!
Re: First produced clutch has pipped!
Thanks everyone. And the first one is out and the others are starting to peak out and are moving.
Thee first one out is a CG enchi, and I feel like a good example of one. I haven’t sexed it yet since it’s too slippery atm to get a grip on.

Re: First produced clutch has pipped!
That’s gonna be the hard part. Especially if there are some females CGs in there

Can’t wait to see them once they are out of the eggs . Is this your first time breeding ?

Re: First produced clutch has pipped!
This is my first time breeding. It’s definitely looking good on the odds department. A second baby came out and it is also a CG enchi. I popped that first baby a second one and I came up with female again. So I may have got lucky there to and the sire could be a female maker. I’ll wait to pop them any more until I put them in individual tubs and will mark the tub.

4 of the 5 were out when I got up this afternoon with all being enchi and 3 of them CG enchi with one more CG left to pop out. So pretty good odds I think. And if I didn’t know better I would think my female is a super enchi with how all the babies are popping out, I lucked out there. Hopefully the last one will make 5/5 enchi babies.
I picked and popped a random CG and I came up with female again. I tried the single gene enchi and it was too squirmy and slippery to cooperate and I was being a bit gentle holding it.

Re: First produced clutch has pipped!
Thanks! This was my first time breeding and I don’t think I couldn’t asked for any better from this clutch. So far the only one not a coral glow enchi is still a really nice enchi.
It took 2 years of pairing for my female to lay from when I started pairing at 1600g and she finally laid at 2300g. She was only 2 when I started pairing her. so young but my thinking is if she is still a bit sexually immature, her body won’t let her produce eggs anyway, so as long as she has her size it wouldn’t hurt to start pairing. I ended up with 5 good eggs and 3 slugs from her. I just got another older female up to size (pastel het clown being paired with enchi lesser het clown) and have started pairing her, and have another female (mystic) that will be up to size this winter. It’s taking a while, but I’m starting to get a nice little army of females. And hopefully these CGs actually are female since I’ll be keeping one of them either male or female.

The last one is out, and it’s the only one not enchi. A funky patterned little CG. This one seems to have a few swirls in the alien heads making a neat look.
Total tally for my first produced clutch: 1 enchi, 3 coral glow enchi, and 1 oral glow.

Re: First produced clutch has pipped!
I would be jumping up and down with joy after those odds for a first ever clutch.

What a great clutch you had there

Thanks everyone, I’m really happy with how this clutch turned out!
They are all out and I moved them to a tub on the rack with damp paper towels until the hatch. I popped them all as I moved them. 3 of the Coral glows came up as females for me. The enchi and one of the enchi CGs I didn’t get hemipenes, but there were red dots where the penes would be but nothing more showed, the others didn’t have these dots. Would these be the equivalent of seeing the hemipenes or do females have the red dots too? After a couple meals and before I go to sell them I will also probe as a secondary identifier. If the red dots mean male, I’ll be very mildly disappointed as that means the atleast to me better looking of the 3 CG enchis is male and the other 2 are female. I know they will look a bit different after their first shed, but it just has the best pattern to me.
Also, I love how clean the enchi turned out and how broken the pattern on the single gene CG is. It’s gonna be hard not keeping all of them.

The CG enchi pic is the one that I like best of them, and the one that showed the red dots, same with the enchi. None of the others had these dots or any hint of hemipenes.
Thanks,
Kyle
