Opinions wanted!!!
I am kind of planning to shop for yet another female for my Very Small collection this weekend in Columbia SC
I will list all of my animals but am curious what genes you guys would choose to go with any of my 3 males. It will be very apparent that I like Pieds from the list of what I already have but just in case there is something that wont break the bank that I may be overlooking that could make really cool mid priced young. I am interested in opinions so that I can research before the show.
Males are
1.0 Piebald
1.0 Coral Glow, Yellow belly, 100% het Pied
1.0 VPI Axanthic, Leopard, 100% het Pied
Females I already have are
0.2 Piebald
0.1 Mystic Potion, Orange Dream
0.1 Super Enchi, Butter, poss Fire
0.1 Pastel Superstripe
0.1 Super Pastel, Pinstripe, Chocolate
0.1 Bamboo Spinner

Get an axanthic female with some codom genes. Axanthic pinstripe or enchi would work well with what you have. Have you seen axanthic bananas yet?

I haven't but you can bet i'll be on morphmarket looking to see if I can see one.

A female axanthic pied or het pied would be perfect, but also a cinnamon or black pastel pied or het pied to pair with your banana yellowbelly het pied....the result could be amazing.... banana and cinnamon/black pastel make a rather beautiful combo.

Re: Opinions wanted!!!
0.1 Axanthic Fire het Pied + ???
you have quite the collection already, but that 1.0 Axanthic is begging for a partner. any 0.1 Axanthic combo would be an excellent addition, but definitely consider an Axanthic het Pied combo.
EDIT: bite the bullet and get a 0.1 Lightening Pied!!!

Re: Opinions wanted!!!
nice collection. u need to post some pix of your animals. :) anyways u have a solid base.
i would get something that really compliments the Leopard gene. (BTW do u really have a VPI Axanthic Leopard het Pied? pix plz :) ) i see u like Pieds, but i'm not the biggest Leopard Pied fan as Leopard can be hard to ID in Pieds esp. the higher white ones. if still wanna go that route, i would get at least a double het. anyways what i would get if i were u would be a Spotnose double het VPI Ax and het Pied or het Clown. ;)

my friend has an Axanthic Coral Glow/Banana. she got one of the first ones and he's in his first year of breeding. anyways they're pretty kool and kinda look like Lavender Snow's.

Thanks for the compliment on the collection. I think I have pics of all of my animals on my Facebook page, link in signature.
The only picture I have of the Axanthic is this one and The breeder told me it was 100% het for Pied. I will have to wait till he isbig enough to prove that out. He is only in the low 400 grams range now.

Re: Opinions wanted!!!
Well, I tried to do as was suggested here today but there was not 1 VPI Axanthic that I could find at the show, much less a female one.
I did end up coming home with an in-expensive addition though. She is a Lesser at almost 2300 grams. The breeder said that she laid 9 eggs for him about a month ago but she appears to be filled back out. Not empty looking at all. I will attempt to pair her this coming season.

I love:
Sable
Pinstripe
Clown(recessive)

Well, Ax01 do you think from the picture that it is what it was sold to me as? I am horrible at recognizing genes from appearances so I am probably too trusting to believe what a breeder tells me it is.

i just remembered and saw this reply. yes, your BP is an Axanthic Leopard. but i can't tell from that one pix if it is het Pied. the best way to tell is from breeder trust and pairing that included at least 1 visual Pied parent for 100% het. that tail pattern looks interesting tho as the side pattern looks kinda melted and running together or it might be an exaggerated Leo Pattern. (visual het Pied indicators include ringers, railroad tracks and melted patterns).
Edit: i have a Leo girl that might be triple het (or nothing at all lol) and she looks like a normal Leo. cute but normal looking. her brother that i have has a partial ringer.

ok nothing visually jumps out to me to say it's Pied but it's fun train yourself. here's me stretching the visual cues:
the pink is "melted" tail pattern on the right side.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/aSeISSD.png
it also has "melted" pattern on the left side of the tail, again highlighted in pink.
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/TZVNqYx.png
the pink heart circles the world's smallest ringer. (the orange sausage link circles the sausage butt.)
https://ball-pythons.net/forums/cach...om/xJE7hB8.png
i refer the the pattern "melted" in quotations b/c the melting has no impact on other patterns around it. there's no blushing or the black is not interrupted creating a more complex melting or ringer.
Edit: again the best way for 100% het Pied is the parentage/pairing that produced your animal. at least one parent had to be a visual Pied.

Dude, That is going above and beyond with you circling the areas you are referring to. Thank you for the training.
I looked on my Reptilescan and I did not get the parent's genes from that breeder. I usually send a text and ask for that info the week after a show that I buy from so either I forgot to ask or he didn't tell me. I did get the hatch date so I doubt that I forgot to ask. I will just have to wait till he gains a bit more weight and pair him to one of my 2 visual Pied females when they get big enough.
Love the Sausage circle. Yep he ate well last Sunday and had not turned it loose yet last night.
