How to inject F/T feeders with water?
I've read about injecting thawed mice with a little water to help with a snake's hydration. This might be a dumb question, but how exactly do you do that? Just with a regular syringe/needle into the skin? I tried Googling with no luck. I don't want to feed them wet, as we're still establishing ours on F/T and use a hairdryer.

You could probably just use a syringe and inject into the body cavity.

Honestly, just thaw it out in water if that's your goal but it's really not needed. If you place a bowl of water in your snakes enclosure they will drink from it.

Seems like a long, unnecessary walk around the block when you can just defrost in water and serve wet.

And what makes you think it's needed in the first place?
A thirsty snake with a clean water bowl will drink...

They both always have clean water. I'm just paranoid right now after Clark's first really rough shed a while back. I'm trying to do everything I can to prevent that again. But maybe I'll see how the next one goes now that humidity is higher before resorting to injecting feeders.... :)

A rough shed in your case is because of humidity.

Buy syringe needles online. You can get bulk for cheap. Then just inject like you would a roast or turkey.

Sounds a little like putting the cart in front of the horse, I don’t see how injecting water into pinkies will correct a husbandry issue. Now maybe a humidifier might help with those sheds and adding a little damp sphagnum moss around shed time will also work wonders. 😉

You need to keep it simple, there is no need to inject feeders and it would not do anything when it comes to shed, it's about proper humidity.

Thanks, everyone. We do have a humidifier venting into our tanks, which keeps humidity between 60-70%. Here's hoping next shed is better.

Like Deb said, keep it simple. Proper husbandry is paramount to healthy animals. I've never done any injecting of anything, soaking, or any other "tricks". I just provide proper husbandry and my animals are healthy. They all shed beautifully, eat well (some refusals here and there, but that's snakes for ya) and handle well.

Simple is good with these animals. Once the equipment is set up and dialed in it really becomes easy. Just check your equipment daily and make adjustments when needed. Spot clean as needed and provide clean water....that's about it.
