A'Kashja is HOME!
Thanks Adam for such a beautiful snake. She's in her T-3 and exploring. She climbed her hides to the top of her cage and climbed on the Radiant Heat Panel cable and then fell! :) It was so funny! She then continued to explore, before chillin' on top of one of the rear corner hides. I'm not good with the digital cam so here is the best I could do for pics.
Thanks again Adam. Everyone I can attest 1st hand from meeting the man, he is a class act and runs a great operation! Top flight animals! Not only did he give me a beautiful snake for a great price, he threw in a smorgasbord of frozen rat pinks and fuzzies...FREE OF CHARGE!!! How's that for class act!
Thanks again Bro.
The pics...

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
congrats! she is one lucky little girl--she got to come home to a very well thought out and researched to be perfect environment. she should settle in nice and quickly for you. :)

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
I'll second that Em! It's not every snake that's lucky enough to come from a great "birthplace" to an owner that has done the research that Bryce has. Nothing guarantees a perfect, easy snake but a great start from the breeder and a well informed buyer has just got to up the odds of a wonderful first time experience with a ball python.
She looks darling Bryce!

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
She looks great! And did you guys notice? His temps were exactly 82 and 92 and humidity at 52%. I'd say she's a pretty happy lady! And all those hides? What's a gal to do? LOL She's lovely! Can't wait to hear more about her!!!!

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
Congrats on bringing her home! I know you have to be on cloud nine, with a huge case of OCD. I know you have a lot of hides in there but you might want to consider swaping out some of those half logs (which I personally don't like) for some other types of hides. Maybe a nice ceramic pot bottom with opening on the side. Even a nice flat rubbermaid container from the dollar store is good. Just thought I add my two cents, just can't help myself. :D

Adam gave me 2 of the types of hides he uses for her as well. But funny thing is, she's ignored them! She was in the front corner hide of the cool side when I left home.

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
Give A'Kashja some time to settle in and she'll start using the hides.
Oh Mowgli is adorable!

Nice job Bryce! I can attest to the level of caring that you put into getting that enclosure set up just right! Good luck with her...

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
OMG!!!!! I am so happy you posted those pics. My T3 should be here anytime soon. I can't wait now that I see how beautiful and spacious it is. And you have so many hides for the little girl!!! One question though, what is that digital readout in the back? Does that do like duel temp readings and humidty at the same time? If so, I want one. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to all things mechanical, so any amount of help I can get regarding husbandry is most appreciated.

Thanks Jamie for taking time to answer my questions. Between Adam, Matt, you and Joanna, I've asked probably a million and 1 questions. But knowledge is power and hopefully they make my experience one that is enjoyable for A'Kashja and myself.

The T-3 is awesome. Easy to put together too. They have very easy and well labled pieces for putting it together. Very modifiable too. We added a light switch to the outside of the cage and also attached a power stip to the cage so that all the wiring plug right into the cage and the inside flourescent light can be controlled without having to open the cage and disturb her. Right now there are 8 hides in there. Seems to help because she doesn't appear stressed in the least. The thermometer/hyrometer is the new 2006 model acu-rite. Looks like this:
http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/04/9a/a6/a3_1_b.JPG
I got it from Wal-Mart for $9.00. It does Inside/Outside Temps and Humidity. The thermometer itself does inside, it has a a probe for outside and the humidity is by the thermometer itself as well. I learned about the Acurites here during my lurking days! LOL
In that pick my temps are 82 and 92 with humidity of 52%. The T-3 was hard to figure out temp wise to get that type of gradiant. It took me a full week to get temps that didn't get too hot or too cold. I asked around alot to other T-3 owners and the gurus here on BP.Net. Eventually before she arrived last night all was well. So I suggest you spend time getting that all sorted out and running for a few days before introducing the snake to the environment. If its a hatchling, you will also need to put plenty of hides or use the crumpled newspaper trick to provide added security. Good luck with your set-up!

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
The only addition I got was the belly heat. Does that not plug in outside of the cage? I ordered it online, maybe i should have called. :O

They send you a heat cable that fits into a grove on the bottom of the enclosure.

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
Thank you Bryce! Do you know how many times I've tried to describe an Accu-Rite and needed a clear pic like that! whoohoooo doggies!
Rachel, the Accu-Rite takes one AAA battery btw and when it comes it defaults to time, temp, humidity but push a few buttons and you get the IN and OUT temps (basically cool and warm side) and temp. I love it!
Hey Bryce I paid $11.00 for my Accu-Rite! dang you! LOL

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
I got lucky. That's my 2nd one. During T-3 construction I ripped the probe wire by accident. That one was 20 bux on ebay! So I decided to try Wal-Mart and low and behold that was the last one left. No price on it. Got it to the check out. 9 buck-a-roos!

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
Is the belly heat sufficient to create the right temps in the T3? Or is more needed from like a black light?

Re: A'Kashja is HOME!
If you are ever stuck Bryce, Home Depot sells a basically identical unit under a different brand name for about the same money. I would expect Lowe's does as well.

Hard to say from what I gathered from asking around. It would depend on your average room temps. I asked jamie (j. glass) and jotay amongst others about their AP cages and they said most times Belly Heat only didn't produce the type of gradiant they really wanted so I decided to get both Belly Heat and the Radiant Heat Panel per Adam and Matt's suggestion. Works great for me with both on a single Herpstat 2. I average around a 82-83 to 92-93 gradiant. It fluctuates slightly here in there sometimes the warm side drops to 89 or so but within 15 to 20 mins its back to 93-94
