If You Could Only Keep One Snake, Which Would It Be?
If for some reason you HAD to get rid of all but one snake, which one would you keep and why? (post pics if you can) I have always said that would be an impossible decision for me until I met my boy - "Sixx" a couple of months ago. It was love at first sight! For those, who don't already know, Sixx is a 25% Kalatoa Super Dwarf Lavender Albino Motley Retic. I would be extremely sad and heart broken and I would miss every one of my other snakes dearly, but he would have to be the one I kept. I think he is the most beautiful and majestic of all my snakes and is going to be an amazing display animal, he's fun to handle and he loves to hang out with me, he will be an impressive, yet manageable size as an adult (I hope) and I definitely can't imagine ever having any feeding problems with him! When this decision would become extremely difficult for me again will be when Sixx x Xanthess babies come along someday and surpass their parent's beauty!

It would be very , very difficult but I'd have to keep my amazing Imperial Pueblan who is a King x Milk Hybrid - and apart from being a stunning looking snake he's completely unique which to my mind makes him simply priceless.

Well I wouldn't have to choose because Odyn is my sons snake and boople is mine lol. And if there were more, booplesnoop would still win hands down.

Astraea, my albino Burmese python. She was physically abused/manhandled/mistreated before I got her and as a result is still extremely defensive and bites at 18 months old (and growing), so I will not rehome her.

Hopefully she will turn around after 3 years or so.

I would probably keep Nibbler, my cal king snake. The bp is a banana morph so he would be easy to sell, so will the baby Children Python since they are rare in my area. Nibbler was a surrender and left at the pet store for 30 days until I got her. Not sure how old she is, but she bears scars on her body and an old injury in her right eye that did not go away after her first shed with me. Regardless, she has the best temperament for a snake than any other snake I know. I would post pics but I don't know how.

If I had to keep just one it would be this one

    http://i66.tinypic.com/w8u9h5.jpg

She is the reason why I got into breeding in 2006 and she was the first Pied I ever produced back on July 4th 2009 her name Independence :gj:

I would just get rid of all my snakes and buy a new one... just kidding. I would keep Flame, my friendly, ravenous, energetic pied girl.https://image.ibb.co/fXXO8x/IMG_1657.jpgSince I could only keep one, I would first breed her with Chuck, my super pastel pied boy, and then sell him. Technically I would only have one snake, but she would be carrying a clutch of pastel piebalds inside her! Genius!:D These things multiply!:snake::snake::snake::snake::snake::snake::snake::snake::gj:

Well, I'd have to go with Persephone, my aussie water python. She isnt my first snake, not my most expensive snake, or even my most beautiful snake, but she is my most intelligent snake, and the one with the biggest personality. She is tempermental, and demands respect, and seems to truly "study" people in the room, she acts like no reptile I've ever owned. She will actually sits and watches people from her branch in her cage, seemingly for her own amusement. She is a somewhat rare species in the us, and I can't help but wonder if all water pythons act this way, or if it's just her. I don't have a pic of her on photobucket yet, but gave her as my avatar pic.

Your description is very similar to my Aussie Olive Python.

To the untrained eye the Water Python looks like a smaller version of the Olive. I’ve always wondered just how closely related the two species are.

Re: If You Could Only Keep One Snake, Which Would It Be?
    So difficult.

I love all my animals tremendously. Regarding snakes, I love Shayna (BP) for her beauty and temperament, Figment (Corn) for his ease of care and calm demeanor, and Behira (my BCI) for her more advanced care, her adult size, and her puppy dog tame, but fearless, way about her (when food isn't involved).

I am really torn. I think Behira is my most impressive snake and my favorite to hold. She balances looks, size, temperament, and will be a challenge as an adult (size alone). So, I would probably say her, but really, there's a reason I have 3 snakes and 6 reptile tanks!

OP, why such a tough question?

    @Aedryan, this is TOUGH!!!!

Ugggghhh, if it came down to it I would have to keep Django, my King.
But Cosmo would be really tough to see go, I feel like he and I found each other, hahahaha. This stinks!! Tyson and Juice would be super hard to say goodbye to as well. I absolutely LOVE each of my snakes for different reasons, hence choosing to keep different species...ugggh!!!

Django stays. I've always loved Kings. They were the snakes that got me into snakes. He was my first after getting back into keeping snakes. Kings are easy to care for, NEVER skip a meal and Django handles extremely well. And he's the only one of my current snakes who's tagged me. So we have that bond too...

@Reinz. Well, both are in the genus liasis, and from what I've heard olives are known to be intelligent like this, so I'm willing to bet the whole genus act like this. Beautiful snake you got there.

That's tough, but probably my SSTP. He was my first short tail and I love their size and laziness best so it would be one of them. He's really calm and well tempered so I can let strangers touch him without worry, he looks amazing in shed, impressive normally, always eats great.

Those are all stunningly beautiful animals and great photos, John! BUT, to those of us, who just can't choose one, what if this was a deal with the Devil? Let's say, you could either keep as many as you want, but it would cost you 5 years of your life per snake OR keep only one and live 20 years longer than you would have naturally AND age in reverse for the rest of your life... Which one would you choose? :devilish:

If I had to choose and could find great homes for the others.... I would choose Rainbow. She is a reticulated python and requires much greater care and living space than the others when full grown. Most people are not prepared for a large snake.

I love them all though. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b2be02df73.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f913be2831.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...30c47d451a.jpg

I'm not a huge pied fan either. However, some are just plain stunning. I guess pieds are hit or miss with me, most miss, but the hitters are home runs every time...if that makes sense.:confusd:

Unfortunately this has happened to me recently where I did have to make this choice due to financial complications! But thankfully it was an easy one, I kept my female 4 year old pastel ball python. She was my first snake and pretty much the love of my life lol. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dcaf72273c.jpg

Then it'd be Drymarchon melanurus rubidus, mexican indigo. I could probably whittle away 1/2 of the collection without feeling too much loss, and the snakes could care less as long as their needs continued to be met. Every species I keep brings something to the table I really enjoy but, all around, rubidus seems to have the most of everything - except maybe for a fun threat display like hogs and pits. My female Bioruna maculata, mussurana, would be a close second. Feeding is just as interesting(if in a different way), they're just as active and mine is the smartest snake I own. Very interesting critters to keep but the indigo wins out due to fact that I could use it more easily for reptile outreach and education. Also, if I had just 1 snake, I'd probably get tired of only dealing with the tail end of it all the time, like I do with the mussy who has recently decided my digits look mighty appetizing.
