How You Doin BP Community! Tub Question.
Hows it goin Bp community. Recently adopted a beautiful 4 year old normal female. the person who gave her to me had her in a 55 gallon tank. Through all the care sheets and research ive done it seems like the best bet is to have her in a 41 quart Tub with locking cover. i drilled 10 holes on each long side and 6 on each short side. i have two hides one on cool side and one on side where i have a heat pad connected to a thermostat set to 90 degrees F. I use Paper towels i put down and i have a circular thermometer/hygrometer stuck on the inside. One issue having at the moment i have to mist once a day in order to keep humidity up. Just wanted some advice if there was anyone out there to help out much appreciated. Thanks much for your time. Steve From Brooklyn NY.

get a digital thermometer/hygrometer (walmart link | amazon link) instead of the analog (dial) ones. they are horribly inaccurate and it's likely giving you a false reading.

EDIT: oh! i almost forgot: WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!! :)

O ok so you just prop it up in a corner or velcro to wall? that makes things nice and easy.

i just set them inside the enclosure, wherever. no need to use velcro or anything. your snake will likely knock it down but, you know, just pick it back up. lol. also they're NOT water resistant so be sure to avoid getting them wet.

That should be fine even at 7 bucks if it poops out on me it happens. i mist just the heat pad side so ill wait til i get the digital in to see how it looks in there.

To echo tttaylorrr's point - just free stand your hygrometer in your tub and prop it up when it gets toppled.

Velcro comes in strips that have an adhesive backing, so you can affix them to the device or wall of the tub. You never, ever, ever want anything with an adhesive backing on the inside of your tub. Snakes can and will knock things loose when exploring, and exposed adhesive poses a significant risk. Think about what those sticky traps do to lizards. Scary awful.

Welcome to the forum! You will LOVE it here. :)

Looks like a nice setup. To increase humidity, just cover a few of those holes you made. When it comes to ventillation less is more.

Re: How You Doin BP Community! Tub Question.
If you want to keep it off the floor a bit or keep it from getting knocked over, you could try to use a bit of hot glue to stick it to the wall. Hot glue can be pulled off pretty easy if you need to later. Just be sure not to get glue into any of the slits it uses to measure temps/humidity and remember than until the glue has cool for a few minutes that the readings will probably be off.
The glue will work best if you scratch up the plastic of the tub a bit where you want to put the glue. (And of course, keep the snake out while the glue dries, only a few minutes)

Less holes hmmm ok hopefully thats a good quick fix or ill just buy a new tub and start from fresh. Forgot about the hot glue gun thats a great idea going to have to invest in one.
