NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
NARBC Tinley Park is this weekend!!! WOO! the NARBC at Tinley Park is like the friggin' Super Bowl of reptile shows; it's HUGE! it's the only one i've ever been to and i'm always so excited for it! it's a reptile lover's playground! i've shared my experiences at Tinley before (x)(x) and heck yes i'ma do it again. BHB is likely not going to be there, so no Brian selfie update. :(
this is where i'll be sharing my photos/videos, so stay tuned!
is anyone else gonna be there?! i'm trying to go on saturday but i'm still not sure yet. i'll be sure to wear something noticeable. :P
-
i wanna go! i'll make it there someday. :)
u could also take a pix comparing how tall u are compared to Justin Koblyka. he looks tall. then each NARBC take the same pix and see how much taller you've grown.
-
Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
How does the March show measure up to the October Tinley show.
I've heard the October show is the one to see
Your thoughts

October is absolutely the one to be at, since it's the first time the vendors can show their latest babies. March is fun, but October is where you see lots of snakes worth half your salary.

3. Pix booping Garrick on the snoot
4. Pix with the 2017 Reptile Report trophy for Best Forum 2017
5. Photobomb the vid by WmHrbst (aka 46and2reptiles)

LOL. actually this reminds me of last October NARBC: i've NEVER held a scaleless animal and that was my one goal that day. only scaleless animals i saw were beeps, and you better believe i asked to hold them all! YEAH RIGHT!!! the vendors all looked at me like i was insane! drinking beer probably didn't help me win them over. :D

ME WANT!
I haven't seen a scaleless BP in person yet, but would love one! A little expensive for my taste though. Hmmmm, car or BP?
I have held an adult scaleless corn and it was awesome. So pretty, so soft, and those bugged out eyes! WOW! Adorable.
Ended up with Behira (my BCI) instead of a scaleless corn, and I have no regrets and am currently at my limit. One day though, one day! Of course, maybe scaleless BP's will be reasonably priced when I am ready for another snake? HMMMMMMMM, me likey that thought!

Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
Nah can't go this march my car is acting up and I'm sure it ain't gonna be cheap. But luckily I get to look forward to you uploading all the pics of the show. Yeah no brian huh well I'm sure you'll get to talk to some other big names. Last time I was there I got to chat with gerrick. Didn't even realize it was him right away. I was like oh crap your garrick demeyer. But anyway yeah have fun and see how long it takes you before buying a new addition.:D:gj::snake:

Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
I'm REALLY considering going at this point, the only rooms left are like $135 a night though (and I'm already a rewards member lol) :O
We will see, it's going to be painful knowing that I can't pick anything up when I'm there but if AP has 6 or 8ft cages ready to go I think I'm going to head down....I would be there Saturday for sure. Chicago traffic though.....
-
Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
DO IT! you have to film me bartering with that Arby's coupon!
i think they do have cages ready to go. i know the rack guys are always there but i think some people have the big cages. they're probably snatched up pretty quickly tho.
-
I wish I could go... my new jam is watching reptile expo videos on YouTube lol so I feel like I’ve been to one but I haven’t.
My lame butt will be at the king island show which I hear may and most likely will suffer due to this show the same weekend. Poor planning if you ask
me.
But hey its its long island. If it was a designer purse convention you’d be sure it was properly scheduled. Reptiles ... eh second rate around here it seems. LOL
-
Chicago is a long way from Boston.
But....I'll be anxiously awaiting the pics of the scavenger hunt checklist. Although some would clearly benefit from video.
I'd also like to see you randomly knock the baseball hats off three strangers heads. Since you're a Cubs fan, maybe aim for White Sox hats? Don't you dare touch a Red Sox cap though!! Hahahaha

See, that's why it might be a bad idea to combine alcohol with a Brewers fan in Cubs territory....I would knock off Cubs hats for free and seek far more than three people  White sox? Meh, I have no complaints about those guys though. It's the north side blue villains that get to me lol.

I should! Haven't been able to get through to Ali today but I'll give her a call in a little bit again.

Don't worry, it's not fighting season yet! ....plus I respect the fact that I'm in your territory....unlike Cubs fans at Miller Park :rofl:
No worries lol!....are you sure you don't want to convert to the more classy blue team north of you? We have much better Bratwurst here you know, and our hotdogs don't come with the kitchen sink on them...

Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
I think Dracos and I are going on Sunday. I’ve got a leachie gecko to pick up. (Happy dance happy dance happy dance). Plus I need to hit the Pangea booth for food and cork bark for the little guy (did I mention happy dance?).
I spent yesterday and today at the convention center for our annual state floodplain manager’s conference. In past years I’ve gotten a hotel room (hour-plus drive from home before the 355 S extension opened), but this year I had to commute since husband and son are on the road, so I had to take care of the dog-boys. If it wasn’t for the dogs, I’d have stayed tonight and gone to the Friday night preview. The conference I was at wasn’t bad, but a 500 floodplain managers just aren’t as much fun as NARBC. Lot less crowded, though. :). When I left at 3 today one of the electricians was putting in one of the big power feeds to the south end of the vendor hall.

There’s several motels on the other side of . . . Harlem, I think it is - the north-south road the convention center faces (brain is all squishy from “my” conference). I stayed at one two years ago for FP manager’s conference when the convention center hotel was sold out. If you don’t mind crossing umpty lanes of traffic you can easily walk to the convention center.
I don’t think AP is going to be there, I just double-checked and they’re not on the vendor list. When I asked a couple-three years ago they weren’t doing the spring show, as they needed to be home building enclosures. :)

AAARGH!!! It was SOOOO crowded! Probably not worse than usual, but aaargh! Parking was crazy, wonder how many people get/got ticketed/towed from the health club. And then there was this person
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e424fa7776.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0fcc22ef27.jpg
Actually, that was a pretty good spot, reasonably close to the doors. And by the time we left, a couple people were lined up behind my truck. :)
We saw some stuff, missed more that I wanted to find, but it was too crowdede, got my gecko and and accessories and left.

Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
Soooo much to say from these amazing pics! Thanks for uploading!
A) The pastel gravel/yb pied is AMAZING....those yellows just POP!
B) I have never viewed a Cow retic that I didn't like
C) A scaleless corn might be in my future...okeetee looks awesome with that combination
D) A male banana leopard pin for $375?!? What a steal!!!
E) T- Colombian Rainbow Boas...ohmagawd!
Side note: I never got ahold of AP so I decided against coming down but what Im going to do is order my cage for the fall and pick it up down there then.
-
I was literally saying "wow" out loud to some of these snakes! Holy cow!
-
Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
OMG its the new half gecko species. I...want...one....now.
And I actually like this conversion kit. I'm sure there is some sort of catch like its a pain to install or leakage problems or something but I like it. One reason is our wine cellar is my tank grave yard and something like this could make some of my old tanks worth using again.
Also there were so many pics which is good I'm not going to comment on much except to say I really like the pastel scaleless I would love to buy that CG YB black head but not for $2000 which may be fair but I'm out on that. I don't know why I don't see Mojave clowns more. And is that black pastel ghost pied a paradox or not? But yeah good job taylor and thanks for uploading all the pics.

I second that comment, amazzzing pictures!! So many paint jobs it is freakin crazy! I also love those T- Colombian Rainbow Boas and as well as the Cow pos Tiger retic, very beautiful. Maybe one day (in my dreams)...LOL

Re: NARBC @ Tinley Park, March 2018!
tttaylorrr, how much were some of the scaleless BP's?
I have no room and I am sure they are out of my budget at the moment, but I am curious.
Also, were there many? Or just a few?
Love the pics and some amazing animals there. I still want a scaleless corn, but not sure it will happen.
Did you get to hold a scaleless snake?
Thank you for the pictures! Sounds like you had a great time!
-
Thanks for sharing, Taylor!!
There were a few that stood out to me, especially the pastel, YB, gravel pied. Droool.....
Loved the cow retic and the T- CRB too.
Noticed hognose were missing from the photo dump...curious...
Looks like you had a great time!!

none were marked that i saw...all NFS or you better flash some serious skrilla. i think there were 3 this year; last October there were maybe 5 or 6. when i went in Oct, IIRC there were like 2 or 3 marked for sale, they were around $50K possibly more.

no, i didn't ask! ): the vendor that had them was in the back corner of the convention hall, and it's always a NIGHTMARE back there; human traffic jam, shoulder to shoulder (i complained about it in my past threads lol). i was having a lot of anxiety and didn't want to hold such a lil worm. :tears:

there were exactly 3 hognose! and they were Eastern! they were really cool; diamond-shaped heads, and very dark coloring. i forgot to take their picture because they were in the back corner that turns into a human traffic jam.
