    Ap question?
Alone have a pic of the bottom of their t8 or t10 cage? I will be using an ultratherm but there is no recessed area for it Ali said. So I need spacers for the bottom of the cage to create that air zone? I thought there was a recessed area for it.

there is not a recessed area for the UTH but their is a channel for a probe. TBH i don't have my T8 on risers as Ultratherms are fairly low-temp and are (obviously) regulated.

does anyone else not raise up their APs?

    EDIT: no photo, sorry.

Right so how does your t8 sit flush with the uth there? I'm so confused. Even if I just glued three pennies together to sit at each corner I'm good. I just don't see how the cage would sit flush on my dresser with the ultra therm there.

I’ll be watching this thread closely so thanks for posting.

I can take a pic of mine when I return home. I just got it a few days ago. It looks like there is a panel to the right side that can be removed for a mat or tape.

The issue with mine is I bought it off a guy who used it for a few months. He had a RHP installed on the left side for some reason. He kept a snake that didn’t need or he didn’t use a UTH so I guess he wasn’t thinking in that regard and didn’t think about selling it.

I want the uth under the RHP So I was going to lift mine up a bit and install the UTH on the left side as well.

I got these cool plant lifts off eBay because I thought I’d need them for my exoterra but that already had a slight lift so I didn’t use it.

peeps will put risers on their enclosures when stacking to avoid heat sources from one enclosure affecting the heating/husbandry of another. for example, a RHP on a bottom enclosure can affect the floor temps on the top enclosure w/o space for airflow.

the connection bit hangs out from underneath the enclosure; this thing:

so the UTH is flat against the bottom.

good point. i only have one AP so i didn't think about the need to raise them off one another.

I got these on eBay cause I thought they looked cool and we do all this work to make a nice display I didn’t want to do pennies or some cheap looking coasters or something so I got these they were like $25 for 6... I liked them just an idea. They are called plant feet and there are many styles and variety. We’ll see how it goes or maybe I will just leave it flush to the stand I got for it. I did cheap out on that and got a tv stand from amazon for like $25

i installed mine myself. idk about Pro Products but the RBI ones are super simple to DIY; all you need is a drill or a good screwdriver + elbow grease.

hopefully someone with experience chimes in here.

Yea I thought those pot feet were awesome and screamed “SNAKE” lol. Def worth a look they are big and heavy too and def seem durable and sturdy they have a nice wide base so should make a cool platform. I’ll let y’all know how they turn out once I set this bad boy up

    Ap question?
I don’t use risers because I want to use all available heat so I can actually use LESS heat.

My UTH and RHP are all on the same side of each cage. That way, the RHP on the bottom cage is “prewarming” the floor on the cage above it, so less heat is needed from the UTH. And vice, versa. The UTH is prewarming the ceiling of the cage beneath, so less heat is needed from the RHP.

I dont use an air gap for any of my AP cages. As long as you are using a t-stat, you should be fine as it wont get over 100F anyways. But if you do want an air gap, just go to Ikea or a furniture store and pick up furniture pucks for sliding furniture across floors.

And no, the only 'recess' is AP routes out a little line in the shape of a square on the bottom of their cages to kind of act as a template for where the heat tape goes.
