    Anything else in her?
Hey guys! I've talked about my girl a little bit before (she's brand new), and I know what she is, but I'm wondering if there's anything else in there potentially that you can tell from less obvious markings. I don't particularly care either way but I'm curious! I did not get her from a breeder so I'm going off the former owner's word. I'm new to ball pythons and I still find it difficult to distinguish between normals and subtle morphs and a bunch of others, but I'm learning! Don't worry, I have no plans to breed in the future. Also, try not to cheat with my old posts [emoji38]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ed7adcdbd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0a5351700a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...be42bd7fd7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c143efb98c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c5353fc18e.jpg

She looks like a normal to me, and a nice looking one too!

Thanks for your replies!! I probably should've added that she is not a normal, but I was posting to see if she was possibly more than a one-gene animal. Doesn't appear to be the case then, lol.

What was she sold to you as? Not seeing the Chocolate you were asking about either.

She was sold as a chocolate..also I probably worded it funny, she was sold by a breeder but was not produced by said breeder. So, there could've been a mistake I suppose. What would make her look more chocolate? I've been searching these forums and online but info is so limited and mostly to mixed morphs, but since you seem to have an image in your head I'd love to hear it!! Thanks so much

This is probably the worst carpet in the history of carpets to show off his colours and pattern :)

If you look through one eye he's nearly camouflaged:)

alot of the subtle morphs look very much like Normals. u won't notice the influences from alot of these morphs until u start mixing in other morphs and genes. that said, not knowing what kinda BP u had besides that it is a morph, i woulda guess that it's a Mahogany.

(but u know it's a Chocolate and knowing that, i don't see a 2nd or 3rd gene or anything else.)

    Edit:

Haha Zincubus I love it [emoji23]

And thanks for the input Ax01...that's what I kinda figured was the case with them. Cool stuff. I'd love her to pieces no matter what she was though, she's the most inquisitive little thing!

Wow, you meanie !! LOL !!

I have to first drink a Guinness, then close one eye, squint with the other and turn my head sideways before he's nearly camouflaged :)

Beautiful snake, love the "granite" pattern the lower sides ..

The Chocolate gene is really a tough one, looks like a dark normal. But you'll know for sure if you breed it with a lighter normal and half the babies come out dark, then you know it's genetic. And when you cross two chocolates together you get a Super Chocolate, further proving it's genetic and co-dominate. But just to see one dark normal looking snake, for me it's really tough to tell.

The yellow and tan just doenst look right for the Chocolates that I have seen. Usually its more of a darker caramel color.

@cchardwick makes sense! Perhaps someday I'll have the time/money/desire to confirm [emoji846]

@PitOnTheProwl I see. Like in this new photo? Or even darker? This was one the owner sent me before I got her. I haven't taken good daylight photos yet https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0a44ba368c.jpg

I say she could be chocolate. Chocolate is a tough one especially beyond fresh hatch with a normal sibling for comparison. Sable is a gene pretty close to chocolate and I questioned that guess looking at the initial photo. Photos can be tricky though and a Sable ball photo in incorrect lighting can look like a normal with granite like markings.

The slight blushing along the spine. Normals don't usually have that. However she does look a lot like a normal. But the blushing is so slight you really have to look.

Thanks so much for the opinions everyone! It's certainly tough to see differences.
